Work Arrangements: Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position will require full-time physical presence at the NRC work location identified.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

College diploma in Architectural, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering Technology or a relevant trade license.

A combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • Significant experience with contract administration and management ensuring conformance to tender documents (drawings and specifications) for contractual compliance, due diligence, assessing the quality of the work, safety reviews;
  • Experience with all construction trades including the disciplines of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical;
  • Significant experience in coordinating the on-site activities of contractors on multi-trade projects;
  • Significant and recent experience related to the commercial or industrial building construction industry.

* Significant is defined as: between two (2) and six (6) years of experience.
* Recent is defined as: within the last two (2) years.

ASSETS:

  • Experience coordinating construction contracts in the Federal Government environment would be considered an asset.
  • Formal certification in construction management would also be considered an asset.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to coordinate the work of construction Contractors for building additions, renovations, equipment installation and commissioning
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and set priorities
  • Knowledge of construction practices and techniques and design and construction details, particularly of the architectural or mechanical or electrical trades
  • Knowledge of the construction industry including legal aspects, Owner/Contractor/subcontractor relationships
  • Knowledge of building codes and construction safety standards and practices
  • Management services - Client focus (Level 2)
  • Management services - Initiative (Level 2)
  • Management services - Results orientation (Level 2)
  • Management services - Teamwork (Level 2)
  • Management services - Communication (Level 2)
