Position Overview

Nasittuq is seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Depot Manager for our North Warning System Support Center (NWSSC) in North Bay. The successful candidate will manage the NWSSC office, Depot Engineering group, and the Repair Facility, overseeing essential functions and ensuring seamless operations. This role is critical in supporting the lifecycle of radar systems and software for the North Warning System.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Management: Supervise radar and software engineering, test and repair activities, and manage the Support Center office.
  2. Staff Management: Oversee performance evaluations, professional development, corrective actions, and union relations. Lead the hiring and onboarding of new staff.
  3. Product Development: Oversee engineering product development for the AN/FPS-124 radar redesign and mission software, including software lifecycle management.
  4. Repair Facility Management: Direct the local repair facility for RF, power, radio, and communications electronics components and assemblies.
  5. Security & Facility Management: Manage NWSSC building security, visitor access, and coordination with 22 Wing. Host government visitors and support all NWS staff within the facility.
  6. Representation & Liaison: Act as the representative for NWS and Nasittuq with the United States Air Force program office.
  7. Financial Management: Manage budgets and financial oversight for the department.
  8. Additional Duties: Undertake other projects and responsibilities to support Nasittuq's overall program and mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage approximately 25 staff, including two department supervisors and additional direct reports. The team consists of union technicians and non-union engineering staff.


Qualifications

  1. Education: Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology in a relevant discipline.
  2. Certificates/Licenses: Professional Engineer, Certified Engineering Technologist, or Certified Engineering Technician designation or equivalent.

Experience

  1. Minimum of 10 years in an engineering or technical services department.
  2. At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a leadership role.
  3. 5 years of project management experience.
  4. Proven ability to analyze complex problems and provide effective resolutions.

Skills And Abilities

  1. Expertise in project management and staff management, including unions and hiring processes.
  2. Strong understanding of repair processes and technology, hardware and software design, and systems integration.
  3. Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  4. Strong professionalism, confidentiality, and adaptability.
  5. Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  6. Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Training in management, leadership, engineering design, and project management.
  2. Experience with Maximo is an asset.

Effort & Working Conditions

  1. Primarily an office-based role with minimal physical effort.
  2. Occasional travel within Canada and to the United States.
  3. Regular travel to the local Short-Range Development (SRD) radar site.
  4. This position is not eligible for hybrid work due to the nature of the NWSSC operations.

Relationships

  1. Internal: Regular interaction with Nasittuq Senior Leadership, Program Management, Accounting, Compliance, Contracts, Logistics, Operations, and ownership group.
  2. External: Regular communication with United States and Canadian military staff, external sub-contractors, and Government of Canada personnel.
