Inc Rate: $98/hour

T4 Rate: $81.37/hour

Travel Requirements: Regular travel around the province and overnight stays required.

Safety and Compliance

  • Safety Sensitive Role: Pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing required.
  • Medical Checks: Pre-placement medical check required.
  • Driver's License: Must maintain Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.
  • Work Schedule: Set shift schedules to be discussed during the interview process.
  • Assessment: Applicants may need to pass an assessment as part of the selection process.

Duties

  • Multidisciplinary Environment: Participate in projects requiring Professional Forestry services for vegetation management.
  • Technical Analysis: Analyze and interpret technical studies and data for planning and implementing timber harvesting, vegetation clearing, and access planning.
  • Cost Estimates: Develop detailed cost estimates for forestry and vegetation management activities.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Act as a forestry Subject Matter Expert for clients.
  • Contract Development: Assist in developing contract scope, specifications, and documents for forestry and vegetation management contracts.
  • Contract Administration: Implement and administer contracts for forestry engineering, layout, and professional activities, ensuring deliverables meet contract specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Complete quality assurance checks and verify contract deliverables according to project schedules.
  • Contract Supervision: Supervise contracts for vegetation clearing and maintenance, conducting quality assurance audits, and handling contract changes.
  • Communication: Communicate professionally with clients, stakeholders, contractors, private landowners, First Nations, the public, and various government levels.
  • Agreements and Permits: Assist in acquiring agreements, authorizations, approvals, permits, and licenses.
  • Indigenous Relations: Support the Indigenous Relations Team with consultation.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Professional Certification: Must be a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in good standing with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of related utility vegetation management or industrial forestry experience, focusing on forest management, operations, planning, stakeholder engagement, timber harvesting, and road construction/planning.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with BC legislation and regulations governing forest practices, environmental and water resources, cultural and heritage resources, and utilities. Understanding of environmental certification commitments.
  • Skills: Proficiency in managing and adapting to change, delivering quality work in a multidisciplinary environment, and using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications.

This position is critical for ensuring the efficient management and implementation of forestry and vegetation management projects, requiring extensive experience and a strong skill set in forestry management and stakeholder communication.
