Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and controlling activities in a manner that ensures the highest possible levels of productivity, quality, on time delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitability while maintaining a positive and safe work environment.
The ideal individual will have Minimum of ten (10) years experience in a variety of manufacturing sectors, including a minimum of eight (8) in a leadership position, with significant expertise in leading Lean, Six Sigma initiatives, managing growth, introducing and successfully implementing new manufacturing methodologies and technologies, possess a strong entrepreneurial sense, experience with setting and implementing business strategies, managing client contracts, providing exceptional customer service, and a sound business financial understanding.
Responsibilities and Duties
OPERATIONS
- Create step by step production plans with his/her production team.
- Assure that materials and equipment used are well maintained and utilized in a productive and appropriate manner.
- Execute on the manufacturing and business growth strategies.
- Provide guidance in order to optimize the operating profit and ensure short and long term performance
- Evaluate performance actuals against goals and determines ways to enhance actuals.
- Plans and executes improvement initiatives. Establishes administrative controls what will ensure the attainment and enhancement of these goals.
- Responsible for the profit and loss for the plant operations.
- Improve/optimize operations processes
- Ensure efficient and effective management of all operations - production, maintenance, logistics, and quality by relying on the best practices of the market and by being on the forefront of innovation in terms of methods and technologies.
- Responsibility for managing non-conformances incurred during production, and ensuring resolution of an any quality issues and satisfactory and timely resolution for our customers.
- Accountability of the production schedule, ensuring customer lead time requirements are met
- Mobilize human resources with organizational goals and ensure development of talents accordingly.
- Efficiently manage operation and investment budget and maximize the return on assets for which he is responsible.
- Create and maintain a secure work environment for all employees.
- Ensure the monitoring of performance indicators ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement strategies and action plans (quality, on time delivery, cost)
- Ensure constructive relationships with external partners and customers
- Perform supplier and vendor site visits to ensure compatibility of equipment designs with current plant configurations.
- Manage the resolution of technical issues identified by suppliers.
- Provide technical assistance to processing facilities, to improve quality and efficiency. Support, Manage, and facilitate continuous improvements within current and future facilities.
- Improve equipment/plant layout in conjunction with stakeholders with safety, ergonomics, efficiency and material/people flow in mind.
- Align the Company's strategies with the market's opportunities, motivate the team and support Management in setting priorities.
- Ensure health, safety and site security requirements are respected.
- Manage the production budget and control costs related to labor, materials, and overhead.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or safety.
- Prepare and present production reports to senior management.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
· Strengthens relations with existing clients particularly with client senior management.
· Grow the business through strategic relationships and by expanding our service offerings to clients.
Other Essential Requirements
- Solid, progressive manufacturing experience at a managerial level.
- Familiar with JIT, Lean Manufacturing, MRP manufacturing systems and ERP
- Able to work flexible hours, weekends if required
- Experience with, Microsoft Project, Excel, Microsoft suite and Visio
- Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, up to 10-20% travel may be required.
- Current and valid passport - US Based projects may require relocation for short periods of 1 to 3 months and must be able to temporarily relocate if required during this period.
Education
- Bachelor of Engineering in any of the following disciplines, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical
- Professional Engineer (P,Eng.) status with Professional Project Management designation.
