Reporting to the Senior Manager, Emerging & High Growth Practice (EHGC), the Practice Financial Analyst will provide research and financial analysis and evaluation support to Osler’s national EHGC Group, and its clients.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Practice Analysis & Financial Modeling
  • Work collaboratively with the firm’s Business Analytics and Pricing Management teams to analyze project staffing for various legal projects including financing and M&A transactions to enable future budgeting and increased financial performance.
  • Involvement in the M&A and venture capital financing transactions at various stages, assisting the legal professionals in creating and maintaining capitalization tables and liquidation waterfalls.
  • Work collaboratively with the firm’s Business Analytics team and Pricing Management teams to assist with national transactional analysis projects, as assigned by EHG’s Senior Practice Manager.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

University degree, preferably in commerce or finance, plus a minimum of one to two years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable. Someone working towards a finance related certification is preferable.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong analytical skills, proactive, highly organized, detail oriented and a perfectionist managing a high volume of activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Discretion and a strong client service orientation are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • A team player who also works well independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Disciplined execution and follow through; excellent time management skills are essential.
  • Strong ability to learn existing business practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Must be a self-starter and be highly motivated to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A certain degree of flexibility is required with respect to hours of work.

We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
