UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE SHOP FOREMAN PERFORMS TASKS AND DUTIES NECESSARY FOR THE SHEAR AND PLASMA CUTTING OPERATIONS. THEY ARE ABLE TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS THAT ARISE DURING FABRICATION, BUT REQUIRE SOME GUIDANCE AND SUPERVISION.

TASKS

PERFORMS OPERATIONS / FUNCTIONS WITH SECURITY AND SAFETY AT ALL TIMES



LOAD AND UNLOAD (PARTS SETUP) HIS MACHINE USING OVERHEAD CRANES AND MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT (EXCEPT FOR COMPLEX LIFTS)



MODIFY PARTS PROGRAM IF REQUIRED FOR OPTIMAL CUTTING OPERATION AND PARAMETER

MAKE ALL NECESSARY MACHINE SET-UPS WITHOUT SUPERVISION.

MEASURE AND INSPECT PARTS HE HAS CUT


KEEP RECORDS OF WORK PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMPANY PROCEDURES AND MATERIAL HANDLING PROTOCOL


PARTICIPATE IN PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT AND PROBLEM SOLVING DISCUSSIONS


MAXIMIZE MATERIAL UTILIZATION YIELD BY NESTING AND MINIMIZE WASTE “SCRAP”


CATALOG CONSUMABLES AND COMMUNICATE WITH PURCHASING FOR RE-STOCKING


KEEP CLEAN AND MAINTAIN REGULAR MAINTENANCE OF THE CUTTING EQUIPMENT


MAY BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM OTHER DEPARTEMENTAL RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR


PRE-REQUISITES:

HIGH SCHOOL OR EQUIVALENT

MINIMUM 1 YEAR OF MATERIAL CUTTING EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT VOCATIONAL CUTTING MACHINE OPERATION

ABLE TO OPERATE IN BOTH FRENCH ANS ENGLISH

BASIC COMPUTER FUNCTIONAL SKILLS (SAVE AS, COPY, ETC.)

PROFICIENCY WITH CUTTING MACHINE OPERATIONS / INTERFACE WITH MINIMUM SUPERVISION.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF STANDARD CUTING MACHINE G AND M CODES

REQUIRES GOOD PHYSICAL DEXTERITY: OPERATOR WILL NEED TO BE CONSTANTLY MOVING (STANDING, SITTING, WALKING, KNEELING AND BENDING) AND MANUALLY LIFTING WEIGHTS THAT CAN BE 20KG.

MUST BE ABLE TO SELECT OPTIMAL CUTTING PARAMETER TO MAXIMIZE CUT PRECISION AND QUALITY

MUST BE ABLE TO READ SIMPLE PART DRAWINGS AND OR PLANNING SKETCHES

MUST BE ABLE TO OPERATE IN BOTH METRIC AND IMPERIAL UNITS

MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM SIMPLE SHOP MATHEMATICS NECESSARY FOR CUTTING, NESTING AND OPERATING THE CUTTING STATION

MUST BE ABLE TO PROPERLY OPERATE BASIC DIMENSION INSPECTION EQUIPMENT

MUST HAVE GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF METAL CUTTING INSPECTION PROCEDURES

MUST BE ABLE TO USE MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT COMPETENTLY INCLUDING OVERHEAD CRANES (EXCEPT FOR COMPLEX LIFTS)

EFFECTIVE ORAL COMMUNICATION IN BOTH FRENCH AND FRENCH LANGUAGES.
