Reports To: VP, IT Enterprise Applications

Summary:

This role conducts research, designs and consults on the design, development and implementation aspects of complex applications and their interactions between them in a project environment. In a leadership role, works as part of a project team to implement complex technical solutions that meet Client and Enterprise requirements. This position is responsible for translating business needs into business systems solutions. This role will operate within the scope of suite of applications within the corporation. He will have a full understanding of interactions between systems as well as to define limitations and requirements for source code. Requires knowledge to an increasing degree of expertise in the use of leading-edge productivity, front-end and middleware software tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand what the non-functional requirements to the system and how does the architecture reflect them.
  • Understand what the different components of the system and their responsibilities.
  • Understand what the interfaces and available connections are between systems.
  • Understand what kind of technologies, standards and limitations are used to create the solution.
  • Provides a lead technical role in evaluating and recommending technology and application software acquisitions.
  • Provides designs and/or direction end-to-end business system solutions in a complex application and technology environment.
  • Contribute to defining the Technology Target state for the applications and Enercare as a whole.
  • Accountable for the overall design of a specific application and/or the integration of a new application package.
  • Determines requirements, designs and specifies programs to interface, extract, transform and load data systems and to fulfil any special reporting requirements.
  • Continually growing and expanding their technical knowledge.
  • Provides technical guidance and development to Senior and Intermediate Programmers and other technical staff in the organization.
  • Responsible for managing less senior technical staff on large projects.
  • May lead medium-to-large projects from a Technology design perspective.
  • Provides Quality Assurance to project teams and monitors the compliance of all Programmers to Enercare procedures and document standards.
  • Responsible for translating complex business functional requirements into technical specification documents and writing the application programs to deliver this functionality.
  • Provide innovative / new ideas to the table to challenge the status quo.
  • Works autonomously to design, code, test, document and debug programs of moderate to high complexity and/or complex subroutines.
  • Technology role model for members of the IT team.
  • Provides leadership to less experienced Programmer Analysts.
  • Provides technical/business leadership to Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Programmer Analysts, Application Analysts and Database Analysts.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in the field of computer science and/or 7 years related work experience.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating business cases, budgets, and so on.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
