Position Summary:

Reporting to the Product Safety and Quality Assurance Manager (with a dotted line to the Plant Manager), the Quality Control Coordinator will take ownership of all aspects of the department, including coordinating related regulatory programs while maintaining a safe workplace.

POSITION TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes the implementation, verification, reassessment, maintenance and storage of site level HACCP plans, prerequisite programs, and supporting documentation
  • Monitors and verifies product safety programs and facility practices, then takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the HACCP system
  • Primary liaison with CFIA inspectors, third party auditors, and customers
  • Manages site licenses and permits
  • Assists with internal audits conducted by Corporate PSQA team annually
  • Development, maintenance & deliverance of GMP and Technical training for operations, maintenance and logistics personnel on HACCP program requirements, including modifications and updates, for hourly and salary employees
  • Ensures timely documentation, follow-through and completion of root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions for internal audits, external audits, non-conformances, and complaints
  • Ensures supplier non-conformity responses are issued, tracked, trended, managed and communicated
  • Identifies site trends related to product safety (foreign material, complaints, non-conformances, etc.) as well as opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage monthly HACCP / Quality meetings with the site and corporate level teams, to communicate program updates, non-compliant situations, and KPI's
  • Ensures all matters pertaining to product safety and quality are promptly reported to the corporate PSQA Team
  • Provide accurate and timely execution of weekly and monthly financial reporting and analysis and other administrative duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Science, Environmental Science or related field with Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years' experience.
  • Understanding of HACCP and its application to manufacturing.
  • Comfortable to work cross-functionally, communicating directly with a variety of department members.
  • Strong ability to communicate in English, including verbal, written, and email communication.
  • Strong leadership, and data management skills.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and capable of delivering outcomes with minimal supervision.
  • Strong health & safety mindset, demonstrating the ability to maintain the highest standards of health & safety during all tasks.

PHYSICAL ABILITES:

  • Ability to keep up with physically demanding tasks such as repetitive bending, pulling, pushing, lifting etc.
