We are looking for Project Directors based in Toronto and Vancouver. Opportunity to relocate to Tel Aviv or India for major projects if interested, full relocation provided in this instance.

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Project Director - Transportation with experience in the Rail Sector to be part of our growing and vibrant team working on exciting transport projects. The key elements of the role are to:

  1. Lead rail projects, supported by our growing team of engineers.
  2. Represent the company as a technical expert.
  3. Contribute strongly to winning work and delivering projects safely, efficiently, and effectively.

The role offers hybrid working with 2-3 days office based.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for projects, delivery, budgets, resourcing, planning, and programming.
  2. Review quality and lead the preparation of technical outputs.
  3. Coordinate with other disciplines and represent the business internally and externally.
  4. Responsible directly to the Head of Department for financial, technical, and project management control of the civil engineering aspects of small to large projects.
  5. Actively contribute to work winning activities and project pipeline.
  6. Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with main client contacts.
  7. Direct/manage/approve complex high value proposals.
  8. Take commercial responsibility for projects.
  9. Ensure successful project delivery to time, cost, quality, and other contractual requirements.
  10. Work with clients to understand ultimate objectives and desired outcomes for each project.
  11. Ensure overall client satisfaction targets are met.
  12. Make presentations to clients, third parties, and colleagues as appropriate.
  13. Liaise with architects, clients, and other professionals while carrying out duties, representing the practice in a professional and courteous way.
  14. Delegate, manage, and direct Engineers and Technicians involved.
  15. Responsible for technical design quality on the projects they are managing.
  16. Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and be self-motivated.
  17. Undertake site visits to monitor the progress of works against specifications, and highlight issues to the contractor, client, and/or internal/external project manager as necessary.
  18. Develop and supervise junior Engineers in the team.
  19. Liaise with other construction professionals in the development of designs.
Skills and Attributes
  1. Ideally 20+ years of experience within transportation.
  2. Knowledge of software used for OCS design such as Microstation and AutoCAD.
  3. Mainline/heavy rail experience an advantage, although metro and LRT experience can be considered.
  4. Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, managing client expectations and communications/relationships with external design teams.
  5. Ability to mentor and supervise more junior colleagues.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with a range of project stakeholders.
  7. Excellent written skills along with the preparation of technical reports and fee proposals.
