An exciting Project Manager vacancy with an engineering consulting firm to work on rail projects in Toronto. Other locations within Canada will also be considered as it is a hybrid position.

This position is suited towards Project Manager candidates with 10 years of experience with a passion for providing excellence in the infrastructure sector. It is a fantastic job opportunity for a premium Project Manager candidate who is seeking to develop their skill set and enhance their career with an established employer.

Project Details

The employer's portfolio of work includes fast-paced rail projects. The Project Manager in this role will be working with engineering and assurance teams. You will be responsible for handling documentation relating to compliance, assigning work, process governance, and risk.

In this role, you will need to work independently, interfacing with clients and other stakeholders. A suitable Project Manager candidate should be comfortable with travel around North America to support the management of the project delivery. The employer supports hybrid working arrangements.

Responsibilities And Duties
  1. Manage a share of a portfolio of large, complex rail projects, implementing and promoting core principles such as scope management, resource planning, change control, risk, financial control, and documentation management.
  2. Support clients, providing solutions and helping to drive their projects forward.
  3. Take responsibility for ensuring the project Estimate at Completion remains accurate throughout the project, with any project risks identified.
  4. Manage resource competencies (including suppliers).
  5. Support Project Engineers in ensuring that risks are understood, considered, and mitigated during both the production of project proposals and during the project lifecycle.
  6. Ensure any Health and Safety risks relating to the project are identified and managed.
  7. Build and maintain good client relationships through proactive communication and actions to fulfil client and business expectations.
  8. Work closely with other Project Managers and Operations Manager to reduce the risk of resourcing conflicts.
  9. Manage commercials and procurement for Subcontractors ensuring project budgets allow and authorisations are gained.
  10. Produce monthly forecasts by project.
Desired Skills And Experience
  1. Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2 or APM.
  2. 10 years of experience as a Project Manager.
  3. Knowledge of the Rail industry, including experience of delivering projects in the rail environment would be ideal.
  4. Proven experience of managing large value projects through the full project lifecycle including managing budgets against an estimate at completion, reporting current project status, managing resource conflicts.
  5. Experience of working in a business/client services environment.
  6. Flexibility and a results-oriented approach to meet varying and competing client and business demands.
  7. Versatility and adaptability with strong organisational skills to be able to work on multiple tasks and to tight deadlines.
  8. A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong diplomacy skills to negotiate and influence internal and external clients.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Excellent Excel skills and proficiency in the use of other Microsoft Office packages.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  1. A qualification in construction or engineering field is preferred.
