To support our development, we are seeking a Systems Design Analyst to join our team in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform system analysis, modeling and simulation to specify the system performance, and verify the train control systems.
  2. Assist in analyzing train characteristics and safety requirements to define the safe braking model.
  3. Assist in analyzing guideway to define requirements for headway (passenger waiting time), safe train separation, interlocking requirements, new guideway elements and guideway designs to resolve operational conflicts.
  4. Assist in delivering the project guideway application data, signal plan, crossover coordinates, track maps and guideway database to software groups while ensuring the guideway design is implemented in accordance with applicable standards and signaling principles.
  5. Interface and build working relationships with software and test groups to ensure timely analysis and resolution of in-house and field test issues.
  6. Development, implementation and maintenance of relevant tools whether procured or internally developed.
  7. Assist marketing in the preparation simulations to support technical proposals.
  8. Accurately report work progress and estimate to complete against work assigned.
  9. Promote a safety culture where product safety is paramount.
  10. Ensure that safety is built into the design by early identification and resolution of safety-related defects.
Required Skills and Experience:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  1. Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to self-direct.
  2. Detail oriented and solution-focused problem-solving skills.
  3. Superb team, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  4. Experience with generic railway signaling techniques, Automatic Train Control system specifications, and military and industry-based standards and regulatory norms is an asset.
  5. Experience with specification driven hardware and software systems design and associated tools is desired.
  6. Experience with requirements management tool, such as Rational DOORS or equivalent, is an asset.
  7. Experience with software, modern software development methodology methods, processes and tools are desired.
