RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Role overview

We are looking for a senior associate to join our consulting and business advisory team. In particular, we are seeking a versatile professional who has a generalist public accounting background (with exposure to both GAAP and tax), together with experience in (or the desire for) accounting-adjacent consulting. This variety can be challenging for some but, for the right person, it opens doors to constant learning, personal growth, and a rewarding career.

Performance Expectations

  1. Provide fractional CFO and controllership assistance to clients, including helping companies with financial reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”);
  2. Assist clients with merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions from start to finish;
  3. Assist clients with the preparation of forward-looking forecasts and operating budgets;
  4. Review client’s internal controls and processes, and remediate any identified deficiencies;
  5. Assist clients with accounting system clean-ups and software migrations.

Credentials

  1. Undergraduate degree with a specialization in accounting;
  2. Minimum of 2 full years of Canadian public accounting experience;
  3. Strong knowledge of GAAP (IFRS preferred);
  4. Experience with working paper software such as Caseware, CCH Engagement, or other;
  5. Strong knowledge of corporate and personal income tax rules;
  6. Experience with tax preparation software such as TaxPrep, Profile, or other;
  7. Experience in any accounting-adjacent consulting or business advisory work is considered a strong asset. Examples include:
  1. Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”)
  2. Financial reporting assistance / fractional CFO
  3. Budget and forecast preparation
  4. Internal controls and processes
  5. Accounting system migrations
  6. Quality of Earnings (“QOE”) reports
  7. Due diligence services
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel;Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines;Effective written and verbal communication skills;Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
