Corporate Accountant (Hybrid)

As a Corporate Accountant, your role is to assist in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for Irving Oil. You will be responsible for Employee Services and Treasury Accounting.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare complex monthly journal entries and reconciliations, performing investigation of outstanding and reconciling items.
  • Review monthly recurring journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior team members.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including quarterly financial statement notes and annual pension plan financial statements.
  • Lead the tax provision support process for Employee Services Accounting.
  • Review audit working papers for external annual audits, including leading the pension plan audit.
  • Work closely with Treasury, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Employee Services, HR, and other groups.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analyses.
  • Assist junior team members with their development.

Professional Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience processing and recording complex financial transactions.
  • Familiarity with IFRS would be considered an asset.

Your Experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Professional designation CPA or enrolled in the CPA program is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting.
