Assistant Store Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting and supporting the store manager in managing the operations, staffing and sales/profit goals in a single assigned retail store as needed. This position is also responsible for ensuring total compliance with all store operations and policies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Drives GNC’s loyalty programs and incentives for successful engagement of customers.
  2. Partners with Store Manager in handling the store’s inventory within GNC guidelines: receive, check and shelve all merchandise orders in support of the customer experience in store, as well as for omni-channel customers being serviced through Buy Online Pickup in Store or Ship from Store.
  3. Monitors best sellers, identifies product demand and updates store manager on trends noticed.
  4. Adheres to GNC's quality control program for stock rotation, infestation control, outside inspections and all maintenance problems in partnership with the store manager.
  5. Adheres and implements all appropriate merchandising information provided via planograms and the Visual Playbook in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring GNC’s standard of store presentation.
  6. Completes omni-channel orders timely and accurately in compliance with company guidelines.
  7. Performs all register operations. Completes all daily register and store open/close functions and bank deposits according to GNC policies and procedures.
  8. Keeps store clean and uncluttered.
  9. Manages work schedules within established budgets for optimal store coverage under the supervision of the store manager.
  10. Communicates sales targets and drives team performance.
  11. Recruits, hires, trains, disciplines employees with approval from the store manager.
  12. Provides feedback and supports succession planning of high performers by communicating team performance to the store manager.
  13. Reads all merchandising bulletins in order to understand product assortment and to answer product questions based on Company approved information.
  14. Implements all appropriate merchandising information in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring GNC's standard of store presentation.
  15. Supports and monitors stores LP activities and escalates concerns to Store Manager.
  16. Monitors sales targets and ensures store sales performance meets or exceeds expectations.
  17. Facilitates community engagement and client loyalty through innovative and creative outreach.
  18. Ensures company assets are protected and not exposed to risks and conflicts of interest.
  19. Facilitates an exceptional customer service experience through all channels of interaction.
  20. Meets or exceeds all corporate set goals, expectations and key performance indicators.
  21. Additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising a team of employees.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum high school diploma required or Associates Degree in Business or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.
  • 1+ years of retail sales experience preferred.
  • Prior managerial/supervisory experience preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, high sense of urgency and reporting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have valid photo ID.
