SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP of HR for North America, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of HR services tailored to the organization’s needs. This person oversees the implementation of policies, practices, procedures, and programs in compliance with current laws to attract top talent, maximize the employee experience, and support the achievement of the company’s business objectives. They also work closely with the North American HR team to enhance and standardize HR processes across the group, contributing to the success of Volex. They are a member of the management committee and also act as a mentor and leader to the HR team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
STRATEGIC FOCUS
- Participate in the management committee
- Participate in annual strategic planning
- Develop and execute the annual HR plan
- Collaborate with the North American HR team to improve and standardize HR processes within the Volex group
- Establish and monitor the annual HR department budget
- Identify HR performance indicators and ensure their monitoring to facilitate decision-making and address current issues
- Conduct regular employee surveys to proactively address workplace climate, culture, and employee satisfaction
- Stay updated on laws, trends, and best HR practices, and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of all HR programs and practices in place within the organization
- Manage, mentor, and develop the HR team
RECRUITMENT AND EMPLOYER BRANDING
- Develop an employer branding strategy to maximize talent attraction and retention
- Develop and ensure the execution of the hiring plan in line with the expectations of various departments and within required timelines
- Manage the recruitment process and tools
- Oversee the implementation of an onboarding process, supervise administrative onboarding, and support managers in employee integration and follow-up
- TRAINING AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT
- Implement and maintain a skills, succession, and training development plan to maximize the individual potential of all talents
- Supervise the annual tracking of training to comply with laws and regulations
- Identify available subsidy programs, finalize agreements, and handle their administrative tracking and accounting
LABOR RELATIONS & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
- Develop a process and necessary tools to support managers in monitoring and developing their employees' skills to maximize their engagement and contribution
- Advise the management team on various HR issues that have a strategic impact on the organization
- Advise managers on disciplinary management and draft disciplinary measures letters
- Prepare and negotiate collective agreement renewals and/or draft letters of agreement
- Lead and serve on labor relations committees
- Investigate grievances and participate in grievance arbitrations as needed
- Handle complaints at various administrative tribunals
- Conduct internal investigations in cases of various complaints or workplace conflicts.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

- Annually recommend the salary increase budget to management
- Implement effective compensation tools to position individuals for recruitment, adjustment, or promotion
- Ensure the tracking and maintenance of pay equity
- Oversee the renewal of collective insurance coverage and retirement plans
- Supervise the payroll process and its management
HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELLNESS
- In collaboration with the sectoral prevention committee and operations, develop and implement a prevention program that complies with laws and regulations
- Supervise all occupational health and safety activities, such as the OHS committee, workplace accident investigations, disability case management, and supporting managers in handling employees on temporary assignment or leave of absence
- Analyze, dispute, or challenge the eligibility of disability cases or CNESST files
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS & CULTURE
- Oversee the deployment of internal communication strategies to promote information flow, foster the culture, and facilitate change management
- Promote organizational culture through social activities that foster a sense of belonging
- Supervise the employee satisfaction committee
MISCELLANEOUS
- Perform any special projects or additional tasks that the VP of HR for North America may assign
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, or any other relevant or equivalent education.
- CRHA certification will be considered an asset.
SKILLS
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a unionized manufacturing sector
- Experience in collective agreement administration
- ISO standards knowledge will be considered an asset
- Extensive knowledge of labor law, health & safety, and advisory roles with executive teams
- Experience in implementing HR strategies and initiatives promoting candidate experience, employee experience, and leadership development
- Experience in deploying training programs and tracking subsidy claims will be considered an asset
- Experience in recruiting and integrating foreign workers will be considered an asset
- Experience in defining, planning, and monitoring budgets and performance indicators (ROI)
- Proven experience in inspiring, uniting, and mobilizing management teams
- Excellent communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Available to regularly work in the company’s office
- Valid passport and available for international travel once or twice a year to Volex offices
