Job Description:
Seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with expertise in Java application development, modernization, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions, modernizing legacy Java applications, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure solutions. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translating them into technical solutions that align with our cloud strategy. It’s an independent Contributor role (IC).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • High and low level design and architect cloud-native solutions for modernizing legacy Java applications.
  • Responsible for product evaluation, COTs/OSS POC and MVP hands-on code activities.
  • Develop comprehensive solution architectures including database modeling, migration, system integrations, data flows, and application interfaces.
  • Should have knowledge of Kafka, Redis, database synchronization between data centers.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud services and technologies based on project and customer’s business requirements.
  • Design hybrid cloud solutions based on requirement.
  • Experience of modernizing legacy monolithic apps to modern lightweight microservices.
  • Knowledge of various integration platforms and middleware technologies.
  • Experience in writing and code review of unit and integration test cases. Follow BDD and TDD best testing best practices.
  • Knowledge of Agile practices.

Application Modernization:

  • Analyze existing Java applications to identify modernization opportunities and create migration strategies.
  • Lead the refactoring, re-architecting, and re-platforming of Java applications to leverage cloud-native capabilities.
  • Ensure best practices in application design, development, and deployment are followed.

Cloud Migration:

  • Good experience on DDD, Microservices architectures, beyond 12-factor principles.
  • Develop and execute detailed migration plans for moving on-premises Java applications to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Implement strategies for lift-and-shift, re-platforming, retiring and re-architecting applications during the migration process. Along with involvement in greenfield app development activities.
  • Ensure minimal disruption and seamless integration during migration efforts.

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure automated deployment pipelines and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices are implemented.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and code reviews to ensure high-quality solutions.
  • Build and implement culture of best engineering practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and product owners to understand business requirements and objectives.
  • Communicate technical solutions and architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment of solutions with business goals and cloud strategy.

Innovation and Best Practices:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in cloud computing and application modernization.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
  • Contribute to the development of architectural standards and guidelines.

Pre-Sales Support:

  • Support technical discovery sessions
  • Contribute to SOW creation process

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring web technologies and related frameworks (Spring MVC/SpringBoot, Hibernate, JDBCTemplate, JPA, Junit, SOAP/REST API etc.).
  • Development and deployment experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Along with hybrid-cloud and Service Mesh.
  • Knowledge of VM to cloud migration infra and apps.
  • Knowledge of data migration from on-prem to cloud.
  • Experience of App modernization principles like DDD, Strangler, BORIS, SNAP-E, Swift, Brainstorming beyond 12-factor principles.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Hands-on experience of migrating Java/J2EE applications to cloud (if required from monolithic to Microservices).
  • Extensive experience of modernization of legacy monolithic apps to microservices.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Service Mesh).
  • Familiarity with build tools like Gradle, Maven, Git etc.
  • Developers should have the ability to build, deploy, and manage applications in cloud environment
  • Designing, coding, testing, and debugging Java applications based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Knowledge of creating SOAP/REST API web services and integration with front-end microservices and back-end systems.
  • Ensuring the security of Java applications by implementing best practices and security measures.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including design specifications and API documentation.
  • Good experience on Microservices architecture patterns, cloud concepts and beyond 12-factor principles.
  • Knowledge of Kafka messaging platform and distributed caching like Redis.
  • Knowledge of data structures and web technologies design patterns.
  • Knowledge of a few SQL/NoSQL databases like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Integration testing using BDD automation testing.
  • Knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps tools and best practices.
  • DBs- Elasticsearch, Neo4j, Cassandra.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML, Gen AI, LLM.
