The Strategic Sourcing Specialist position is accountable for strategic sourcing, buying and procurement of inbound materials activities necessary to support the delivery of the Phantom Experience to our customers. This role will lead the sourcing function for new product development,working closely with the Product Development Team, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality. With a strong focus on strategic sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that Phantom has a sourcing strategy that provides the best value for our customers and business and keeps Phantom in our leadership position in the retractable screen market. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is accountable for all aspects of materials costs, domestic and international purchasing, supplier relationships, overall supplier performance. With particular focus on New Product Development,change management, and cost and value improvements.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing
- Supply Chain Risk Management: ensure that the sourcing strategy for new product launches is secure and risk free.
- Supplier Relationship Management: strategic evaluation, selection, and negotiation of long-term agreements with Suppliers.
- Purchased Product & Services: BOM accuracy, minimizing cost, meeting quality and delivery expectations.
- Capital Equipment: This role provides leadership for major capital purchases to the organization.
- Ability to balance the product design requirements with supplier capabilities to optimize the overall impact on Phantom’s supply chain.
Supply Chain
- Will work with the Materials Team to plan Inventory levels and stocking strategies for new products and SKUs.
- Will manage inbound freight and conduct landed cost analysis for new products.
Continuous Improvement and Quality
- Pursuit of Operational Excellence: Continuously improving the demand driven flow of customer value.
- Supplier Quality Performance: Ensuring that supplier quality performance is improving and meeting / exceeding business requirements.
- Be a key advocate for Lean and lead and support ongoing Lean initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- Project management skills – working with New Product Development, gate reviews, milestone and schedules.
- Customer focused, flexible in work schedule, committed to self-development.
- Leadership: lead by example, mentor, and support.
- Communication Skills: strong verbal and written English, non-verbal, internal, and external facing.
- Technology Skills: Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Windows and Office programs (especially Excel), ERP systems and typing.
- Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License (with acceptable Driver’s Abstract) and access to an insured vehicle.
- Ability to travel internationally as required (Passport without travel restrictions).
- Completion any of the following post-secondary education (or equivalent): Degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration and/or related discipline
- Achievement of any of the following designations are desirable: Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Lean certification, Six Sigma certification.
- Minimum of 5 years in a strategic sourcing role – with strong experience in sourcing for manufacturing operations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
