Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Trail Appliances, a fast-paced, family-owned business, is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior leadership team and to help lead our next chapter of growth. Reporting to both the CEO and President, you will play a key role in executing the strategic plan and be responsible for both the numbers and the people in our business – meaning you are accountable for all finance and people related activities.

As the CFO, you will

Set the strategic direction for both the Finance and Human Resources departments.

Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, credit, treasury, payroll, and provide executive oversight to the human resources function.

Formulate and execute enhancements in financial and human resources processes that align with the company’s strategic objectives.

Analyze business metrics, pinpoint areas requiring improvement, and implement remedial actions; maintain transparency regarding progress with stakeholders and the executive team.

Conduct financial assessments and key performance indicator (KPI) evaluations in executive meetings.

Safeguard the company’s financial health, ensuring it reflects the interests of the shareholders.

Participate in the crafting of the business strategy for the primary company and its affiliated real estate ventures.

Drive the successful completion of major strategic projects and initiatives.

Manage the organization’s cash flow, procure financing, and oversee debt arrangements as necessary.

Develop tax strategies that benefit the company, its associated entities, and family stakeholders.

Align credit policies with the company’s financial risk tolerance and adeptly handle complex credit issues.

Embody servant leadership, fostering significant employee engagement endeavors.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and legal partners.

Direct the annual budget for operations and capital expenditures.

Influence critical financial decisions by setting, monitoring, and enforcing company policies and protocols.

Maintain comprehensive insurance coverage for all business operations.

Identify and mitigate principal risks within the company’s risk framework.

The Qualifications and Experience we need …

CPA designation or MBA

Over 15 years of finance experience.

Proven experience as a CFO or similar senior finance role.

Experience overseeing HR.

Experience within a comparable industry.

Proven experience in partnering with an executive team.

Exceptional communication skills.

Corporate development experience is an asset.

Real estate development experience is an asset.
