Construction Service Technician

Reports directly to the Service Team Lead. The Service Technician shall be responsible for the installation of SWC and SRC products on projects assigned to him or her. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Construction Management or Architectural Technology or equivalent work experience.
Years of Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years field experience as a technician or equivalent.
Working Conditions
  • Always enter suites with a buddy system partner;
  • Requires on site visits which have exposure to hazards or physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures and precautions;
  • Work consists of 90% on Site and 10% in the Plant;
  • Work environment requires wearing construction safety footwear and hard hat for all site work and in certain other locations;
  • Full H&S training required (Working at Heights, WHMIS);
  • Follow Health and Safety standards in the plant and on site;
  • May require driving a company vehicle to visit sites, clients or suppliers;
  • Must have a valid G license; and
  • Flexible to work approved overtime as required.
Intermediate Level
  • Strong technical knowledge of window wall, curtain wall and railing systems;
  • Encompasses on site field experience;
  • Detail oriented and problem-solving skills;
  • Goal oriented, team player and results focused;
  • Ability to read blueprints is an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with coworkers daily by telephone, email and in person; and
  • Ability to work independently without supervisor as required.
Job Specific Duties
  • Install window and door screens;
  • Install operable handles and complete adjustments;
  • Install sliding door handles and swing door handles;
  • Adjust sliding door and swing doors;
  • Install missing and broken sealed units;
  • Install louvers, sandwich panels, and all other infills;
  • Flip vent boxes/complete vent box/ sandwich panel cut outs;
  • Attend water/window tests/pull tests;
  • Attend railing tests at EXP;
  • Attend and complete inspections of leaks, glass, etc.;
  • Take measurements of items on site that need to be replaced or are missing;
  • Provide paid service to any occupied buildings;
  • Travel out of province to service projects;
  • Provide touch ups to aluminum features;
  • Complete e-requests;
  • Install and dismantle mockups on and off site;
  • Provide updated deficiency Procore lists as required;
  • Keep in contact with site offices for projects;
  • Report to Service Team Lead and Coordinators daily regarding work orders; and
  • Any additional duties requested by the Service Coordinator/Service Manager.
