About the position :

Valero Energy Inc. is offering an opportunity to students to complete an internship on a supervised project with our commercial group where they can gain practical and rewarding experience in strategy and energy transition. They will work in close cooperation with our business teams to explore the challenges and opportunities associated with energy transition in a vibrant and constantly evolving environment.

The supervised project could centre on the following needs:

Extensive market and trend analysis:

  • Perform a thorough analysis of the energy market, highlighting the key trends, regulatory developments and emerging opportunities associated with energy transition.
  • Identify market segments that are a priority for Valero and evaluate their attractiveness in terms of sustainability and cost-effectiveness.

Critical evaluation of commercial offerings:

  • Critically evaluate Valero’s current commercial offerings of petroleum products and derivatives, taking into account their impact on the environment and their alignment with the company’s sustainability objectives.
  • Propose adjustments or new offerings that meet the market’s needs while incorporating elements that address sustainability and energy efficiency considerations.

Development and implementation of sustainable commercial strategies:

  • Formulate innovative business strategies that incorporate Valero’s energy transition objectives by identifying new sustainable growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with in-house marketing, sales and business development teams to develop and implement these strategies effectively and consistently.

  • Must be currently registered in a graduate university program
  • Bilingual (French-English), required
  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint), required
  • Knowledge of the SAP, AO, Power Query and of Power BI reporting software, an asset
  • Able to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a changing work environment.

The internship period is from September to December 2024.
