  • Research and analyze competitive compensation practices in the job market; contribute to established compensation surveys and/or develop and implement custom surveys as appropriate.
  • Recommend internal pay practices and pay bands that help to attract and retain top performers.
  • Work with VP HR and corporate leaders to develop career growth steps that are aligned with salary bands to ensure market competitiveness and opportunities for career progression.
  • Support VP, HR with establishment of career ladders, competencies, and progression.
  • Administer and maintain the company's compensation program, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal processes.
  • Administration of Employee Benefit Program (Canada & US):
  • Ensure market competitive benefit plans are in place including conducting the annual renewal, recommending plan design changes, monthly reporting, and employee communications in Canada and the US.
  • Administration of the internal employee benefits plans.
  • Work with VP to plan and communicate benefit plan changes to employees.

Employee Relations & Communications:

  • Implement strategies to enhance employee engagement through initiatives, such as employee recognition programs, wellness, and feedback initiatives (e.g., surveys, stay interviews, etc.).
  • Work with Directors on employee relations matters – investigations, performance management, workplace safety, restructuring, terminations & layoffs, etc.
  • Support day-to-day performance management matters (e.g., letters, coaching, career development, etc.).

Administration of Policies:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements (Provincial and Federal) related to Employment Standards, OH&S, Human Rights, etc. to reduce legal risks by ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Support VP, HR in identifying corporate HR policies and procedures to ensure effective employee relations and standardized practices with respect to performance management, discipline, terminations, etc.
  • Maintain and communicate HR Policies as required by the company or regulators.
  • With the VP HR support legal counsel on employment legal actions.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Admin or equivalent.
  • 5+ years as an HR Generalist demonstrating progressively more responsible experience in HR, specifically with employee relations, compensation, and benefits.
  • MS Office (advanced Excel skills, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Acquisition and/or systems integration experience is preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (all modules) an asset.
  • Eligible for CHRP certification.
