POSITION CONCEPT

The Manager, ADI Systems Integration and Implementation, plays a central role in advancing our $1 Billion Advanced Distribution Infrastructure (ADI) program through effective collaboration and seamless integration with vendors, consultants, engineers, and internal team members in finance, procurement, legal, and HR. This leadership position is instrumental in shaping the future of our physical and technological distribution systems by overseeing the integration of multiple ADI initiatives, ensuring cohesion and collaboration across teams, and facilitating external partner relationships. In this dynamic role, the Manager will lead a skilled team, instilling a strategic vision aligned with the utility's broader goals. Responsibilities encompass overseeing the collaborative aspects of ADI Systems, from fostering teamwork across ADI initiatives to managing external relationships. Additionally, the Manager will stay informed about emerging technologies in the ADI space, evaluating their potential impact and recommending adoption strategies to enhance operational efficiency. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of our utility's distribution systems, enhancing reliability, efficiency, and sustainability through effective collaboration and integration.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead a dynamic team within the ADI program, instilling a strategic vision, maintaining engineering excellence and ensuring alignment with the utility’s broader goals. Foster collaboration with other initiatives within ADI to ensure seamless integration and alignment across ADI. Oversee joint aspects of ADI, ensuring effective teamwork and coordination across ADI initiatives. (30%)
  2. Conduct cross-functional teaming to manage all strategic projects integral to ADI while aligning with utility infrastructure goals and engineering standards. Responsible for the development and execution of project plans, ensuring adherence to project-specific plans or standard project management procedures as appropriate. Manage the project scope, schedule, cost, quality, internal and external resources, communications, risks, and change management. (20%)
  3. Lead relationship management efforts by cultivating relationships with external consultants and partners, ensuring seamless alignment with project goals. Proactively negotiate contracts with consultants, securing favorable terms. Exercise effective planning and organization of departmental and contracted personnel, showcasing strong leadership to support project objectives. Take authoritative responsibility for project and business reporting, delivering insightful status updates to key stakeholders. (10%)
  4. Effectively allocate resources for strategically collaborative projects, cooperating with the change enablement team to communicate ADI’s plans to internal stakeholders and executive leadership. Manage organizational changes, align initiatives with the IT strategy, and address engineering and technical requirements. Advocate for efficient cross-functional business processes and oversee communications, including team meetings and project updates on status, cost, and critical issues. (10%)
  5. Drive technology adoption and integration with the Manager, ADI Process Architecture, to align and integrate collective initiatives with new ADI systems. Stay informed about emerging technologies, evaluate their potential impact on cooperative projects, and recommend adoption strategies to enhance operational efficiency. Maintain a thorough knowledge of Grid Mod solutions, equipment, and radio-based communication systems/networks, along with the associated standards and procedures. Additionally, stay up-to-date on current developments in industry technology and research, including best practices and product capabilities. (10%)
  6. Develop comprehensive collaboration and engineering best practice strategies within ADI by working with multi-sector teams to implement advanced technologies and industry best practices. Ensure the adoption of software and processes through effective training, communication, and engagement of leadership. Monitor feedback and make necessary adjustments. Implement best practices and standardization for organization-wide acceptance of process and business changes. (10%)
  7. Lead communication and issue resolution by sharing a thorough comprehension of cross-functional concerns and promptly communicates mission-critical issues to relevant leadership levels and stakeholders. This ensures the success of ongoing implementation and the maintenance of collaborative working relationships. Recommends project and business success solutions to enhance collaboration and strengthen organizational relationships, engaging with leaders and team members across the entire organization. (10%)

Indirect Supervision: Indirect supervision of project teams and project team members, consultants, material suppliers and related.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal: Electric Delivery, Contracts, Legal, Regulatory, Finance, Procurement/Purchasing, Human Resources, Safety, Cybersecurity, DE/Standards, DEO. TEC Board and TEC Capital Leadership Team.

Key External: Interfaces with other companies and their employees holding similar positions, contractors, suppliers, manufactures, utility providers, and other companies as needed to support TECO Energy companies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a regionally accredited college/university.

Preferred: Advanced degree in Engineering from a regionally accredited college/university including M.B.A. or Master’s in Engineering Management.

Related Experience

Required: Minimum of 5 years of energy industry experience in progressively more complex roles.

Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Distribution Engineering, Design, and Operations.

Supervisory Experience

Required: One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Required: Familiarity with the utility industry's regulatory environment, standards, and best practices. Understanding of methodologies for business process re-engineering and optimization, particularly in a utility context. Awareness of emerging technologies in the energy sector, such as smart grid technologies, renewable energy integration, and electric vehicle infrastructure. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive strategies for operational excellence and reliability improvement.

Preferred: In-depth knowledge of advanced distribution systems and technologies, including WMS, GIS, SCADA, and DERs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office conditions. Reporting in person to the office 5 days a week. Extended working hours and some travel to attend conferences may be required.
