Laboratory Supervisor – Technical Department

AV Group NB Inc. is currently recruiting for a Lab Supervisor in Nackawic, NB.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Lab Supervisor will lead a team consisting of Day workers and Shift positions. The Lab Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the teams have the required main laboratory test results needed to efficiently operate the mill through the supervision of the Main Technical Lab and management of the Laboratory QA/QC program.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct AVN main lab personnel (7 Day Workers and 2 Shift Positions) to meet departmental objectives
  • Ensure accurate and timely testing, prioritize daily mill needs, and assign resources as required
  • Develop and maintain test methods for accuracy
  • Train employees, ensure compliance with policies, and manage performance
  • Administer Labour Agreement, promote workplace safety, and support quality and environmental systems
  • Maintain lab inventories, validate product data, process inventory in SAP, and support mill operations
  • Drive continuous improvement, assist with budget, and manage lab equipment and facility
  • Support customer quality complaint investigations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a unionized environment is beneficial
  • Fluency in English required
