Company Introduction

KAPP Infrastructure is a Canadian General Heavy Civil Contractor with 40 years of experience in infrastructure construction projects. We deliver marquee projects in key markets including water distribution, hydro, underground works, large bridge structures, and other major civil works. Work in these markets is delivered in all geographies throughout Ontario and should be thought to include not only traditional project delivery, but all alternative modes such as DB, CMCG and EPCM. We are conveniently located in Vaughan close to the 407 and 427 directly off Highway 50.


Here is what you will focus on:

  • Work with KAPP personnel on tender sourcing upcoming bids and tenders.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site inspections.
  • Estimate preparation for public and private projects including quantity takeoffs and written technical proposals using Heavy Bid software.
  • Analyze documents, specifications, proposals, addenda in preparation for pricing.
  • Procure quotes for subcontract work and materials.
  • Develop budgets for labor and equipment.
  • Deliver bids and attend public bid openings.
  • Perform any estimate related work communications with clients.
  • Review project site prior to price preparation as required.
  • assist with estimating process/procedure compliance and consistency.
  • Ensure final submission of bids in the bidding system/in-person is complete.
  • Work closely with the Estimating Coordinator to ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Assist with prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s as required.
  • Assist Senior Estimator with other duties as required.
  • Offer mentorship to Junior Estimator(s)/Estimating Coordinator(s) as required.
  • Participates in KAPP continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate in company and project safety programs and initiatives, and monitor/ensure compliance for safety requirements.

  • Performs other duties as required.


What we are looking for:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist.
  • 5 years experience as an Estimator in the construction field. Excellent knowledge of best industry practices.
  • Experience in heavy civil work with particular experience in sewer/watermain, earthworks, roadworks and bridges.
  • Experience pursuing infrastructure projects.
  • The ability to be detail-oriented in order to successfully review information and complete projects.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication and interpersonal skills, as an Estimator is required to possess excellent customer service skills and also liaise efficiently with clients, contractors, and management.
  • Adequate familiarity and proficiency with computer applications and electronic equipment that are used in construction, such as circuit boards, hardware, and software.
  • Well-developed organizational and self-management skills, which enables an Estimator to maintain his or her composure to work effectively under pressure and also meet up with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel and perform site visits.
