POLI 3P33: Politics, the Economy and the State

Compensation

Effective September 1, $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

This course examines the contest of ideas on the national state-economy relationship; historic and contemporary thought on the role of the state in the economy; alternative models of political-economic policy on challenging current issues.

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications

in Political Science with demonstrated university training (course work and/or thesis focus) indicating the candidate's ability to teach a third year course in political science that examines ideological perspectives on the state-economy relationship; policy instruments including taxation, regulation and public ownership; alternative models of economic policy including socialism, Keynesianism and neo-liberalism. Doctoral candidates in Political Science in same area of study (with course work and comprehensive exams complete) will also be considered.
-Successful teaching experience (as demonstrated by course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier) and evidence of active research (, thesis work, publications, conference presentations).
