Position summary


Under the supervision of our Board of Directors, the League Director is responsible for ensuring the success of a multi-week, recreational ball hockey program for children ages 6 to 16.

He or she will be responsible for ensuring the formation of teams, scheduling of games, and working with different companies to set up and tear down ball hockey rinks in parking lot locations in London.

Referrer ball hockey games after training is provided.


The League Director may also assist, as necessary, the Board of Directors in furthering the mission of NHL Street London.

These activities may include, but are not limited to, fundraising, sponsorship solicitation, community outreach, youth sports advocacy, coordinating hockey-related programs and online and telephone marketing campaigns.


Essential functions

  • Serve as a role model and positive example for the players, parents and volunteers.
  • Work directly with the Board of Directors to ensure the success of NHL Street London League.
  • Communicate with players, parents, and the public in a positive and professional manner.
  • Coordinate the creation of youth ball hockey teams across multiple age groups, based on a online scheduling software.
  • Maintain a database of all currently registered players.
  • Coordinate with companies help ensure game locations in parking lots.
  • Coordinate game schedules and ensure rinks are set up properly.
  • Keep accurate inventory of all equipment owned by NHL Street London.
(this includes all on-field items, game and practice items)

  • Ensure age-appropriate rules are disseminated to coaches and families.
  • Manage online scheduling and registration software
  • Maintain and upload content to social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience that demonstrates strong knowledge of hockey is desirable.

Strong leadership and management skills that include the following:

  • Working with a Board of Directors or other committee
  • Possess excellent verbal, phone and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, all be available for all scheduled inperson games.

Demonstrate competence in the following:

  • Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile and/or be tolerant in a
changing work environment.

  • Build Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, Board Members, Sponsors, and City Officials.
  • Communicate Effectively: Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner.
  • Solve Problems/

Resolve Issues:
Quickly handle member complaints and issues, league/coach/referee issues, identify root cause, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations or decisions to move forward promptly

  • Think Strategically: Assess options and actions based on trends and conditions in the local or national environments; opportunities presented to partner for program or programming expansion.
  • Mission and Values: Be passionate about NHL Street London's mission, carrying it out throughout the league's programs.
  • Successfully pass a background check.
  • Familiarity with basic spreadsheet or database software, digital communications
  • Familiarity with online youth sports scheduling software is preferred.
