Facilities and Operations is a diverse portfolio responsible for a range of essential services and work across our five campuses.

From managing capital construction and renovations, providing utilities and energy management, to delivering student and campus services, Facilities and Operations works behind the scenes to make the university a great place to study, learn, and work.

Trades, Infrastructure and Maintenance (TIM), wherein this position resides, is located within the Asset Management and Operations unit. TIM is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance services that support the building infrastructure system operations through the use of trade workers and leaders

Position


The Operational Supply Services Lead is responsible for overseeing staff engaged in work as a storekeeper, material management techs, and logistics worker functions as well as overseeing any contractors/contracts related to these appointed tasks.

This role also oversees the Repair Shop and Signage Shop which provide support to the Trades in general as well as overall to the University community for such items as tool/equipment repair, lamacoid signage manufacture and installation, recycling, and hazardous waste disposal.

Under the direction of the Operational Excellence Manager, this Lead plans LEAN inventory strategies, develops change management plans, leads and assists inventory personnel with effective plan implementation, and finally oversees the maintenance of inventory levels across all trades shops and storage locations across campus

Duties
Supervision This position has the direct responsibility to supervise, coordinate and direct a crew of supply services techs, storekeepers, and logistics personnel by:

  • Monitors costs and associated budgets on all maintenance related work, and special projects as assigned by the Operational Excellence Manager;
  • Assigns day to day tasks to supply service techs, storekeeper, and logistics staff and associated Contractors;
  • Monitors supply service tech staff performance and recommending disciplinary action to the Manager when required;
  • Completes annual performance appraisals for supply service techs, storekeepers, and logistics staff under their supervision;
  • Identifies, assesses, and reports to the Operational Excellence Manager of any issues or problems relative to this shop;
  • Supervises and assigns duties related to the manufacture and installation of lamacoid signage, repairs to building services equipment and assets, lamping activities, recycling activities, general storekeeper activities;
  • Ensures that all work is completed to University standards;
  • Dispatches the Operational Supply Services Logistics & Storekeeper in all pick up and delivery activities;
  • Monitors daily time sheets for accuracy, approves vacation leave request forms and leave forms for staff within the shop;
  • Administration and processing of work orders under Asset Management & Operations' work order system;
  • Manages planned maintenance programs for major Buildings, Grounds, and Environmental Services' equipment;
  • Oversees programs related to regular inspection/cleanup in machine room spaces and around rotating equipment;
