Your Opportunity:
As a key member of the healthcare team, the Surgical Supply Management Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the continuous availability and upkeep of essential surgical equipment and supplies. Reporting directly to the Unit Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing various high-value items, including sterile supplies and both minor and capital equipment utilized across multiple operating rooms and the peri-anesthesia department.
In collaboration with operating room nurses, medical device reprocessing staff, clinical engineering, and supply chain coordinators, the incumbent will execute daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities to guarantee that all necessary equipment is accessible and functioning optimally for surgical procedures. This involves meticulous tracking of equipment sets, reusable supplies, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Should any discrepancies arise, the coordinator will promptly report them to the designated personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage high-cost consumable supplies within the operating room environment.
- Coordinate the logistics of loaner equipment and oversee the management of purchase orders and repair invoices.
- Facilitate the repair process and generate database reports as required.
- Collaborate with medical device reprocessing and supply coordinators to manage consignment and loaner instruments and equipment.
- Ensure timely completion of repairs and organize annual preventative maintenance schedules for surgical tables and related equipment.
Position Requirements:
A minimum of a Grade 12 education or equivalent is required, along with experience in healthcare procurement and shipping/receiving processes.
Additional Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary business program from a recognized institution is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a large and complex organization.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, with advanced skills in spreadsheet management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to convey clear and accurate information in response to complex inquiries.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing workload demands while maintaining a positive team environment.
