Position Summary
Metergy is currently in the process of a significant software development initiative aimed at modernizing its existing legacy business systems into a cutting-edge, cloud-native solution. This endeavor impacts all aspects of our operations, from automating meter points and data collection to managing customer onboarding, tracking, and billing.
As the Manager of Software Development, you will lead the charge in modernizing our internal systems and overseeing a dynamic team of developers. Your role is pivotal in transforming our legacy systems into innovative solutions, enhancing code quality, and advocating for best practices within the Applications & Development division.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of skilled software developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Architect and design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
- Promote the adoption of modern cloud-native software development methods to boost team efficiency and product quality.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, leveraging this knowledge to drive strategic decisions and technical roadmaps.
- Ensure code quality and sustainability through code reviews, automated testing, and leading by example with clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant experience in the IT and Software Development sectors is considered equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the software development field.
- Expertise in .NET: Demonstrated proficiency in constructing and maintaining scalable applications using .NET technologies.
- Proficiency with Azure Cloud Services: Extensive familiarity with Azure services, including Azure DevOps, for creating and deploying cloud-native applications.
- Cloud-Native Development Practices: Solid understanding of cloud-native development principles and best practices like microservices, containerization, and serverless computing.
- Experience with CI/CD Pipelines: Proficient in setting up and managing continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to ensure seamless and frequent releases.
- Architectural Design: Ability to craft system architectures that leverage Azure's capabilities to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborative Mindset: A team-oriented individual capable of working closely with other departments to comprehend requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Demonstrated leadership abilities with the aptitude to guide developers in adopting cloud-native standards and practices, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
