    Position Summary
  • This position is responsible for the recruitment, advisement and workintegrated learning (WIL) placement of PDO project clients / participants. The incumbent will plan, organize and deliver recruitment events on and off campus with particular attention to marketing the WIL opportunities VCC provides to adult learners. The Client Engagement Specialist participates in the development and delivery of innovative recruitment strategies that use current marketing practices and are reflective of a culturally diverse adult demographic. The incumbent acts as a liaison with adult learning centres, community agencies, immigrant serving organizations, other postsecondary institutions, government agencies and a variety of community groups and organizations. This position is responsible for providing timely and consistent information and advice to project clients regarding educational planning and support, WIL opportunities within PDO programs and projects, career guidance, and transitiontowork services.
    Duties & Responsibilities

1. Establish and Maintain Partnerships - Client Recruitment

  • Develop and maintain a professional network with key referral sources and other community partners ensuring the PDO has a strong presence and is positioned effectively on broader VCC practicum placements attached to the PDO project. broader VCC recruitment initiatives.
  • Respond to requests for information and actively promote VCC to individuals, groups and the broader community.
  • Coordinate logístical support for recruitment events including coordinating with VCC partners (internal and external), scheduling, promotion, communications, venue setup, and room booking.

2. Create and Implement Recruitment Practices

  • As the primary contact, lead in organizing, planning and attending/officiating all program/project Information Sessions relating to PDO deliveries in collaboration with the Senior Program Coordinator PDO.
  • Collaborate with the VCC Marketing department in the development of all PDO project promotional materials and collaborates with PDO staff on any new recruitment initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, create presentation/marketing material for and deliver recruitment events that emphasize workintegrated learning (WIL) opportunities, such as information sessions, campus tours and recruitment presentations on and off campus.
  • Develop and deliver dynamic multimedia presentations that focus on WIL and are targeted to specific audiences and sensitive to the communication needs of a culturally diverse population.
  • Manage the ordering, inventory and distribution of promotional material and resources.

3. Client Advisement, Assessment & Evaluation

  • Incorporate a strong clientoriented approach within the recruitment strategy; promote a group presentation approach to ensure information is delivery efficiently to the widest possible target audience.
  • Engage prospective participants regarding training or career goals and options and provide comprehensive information about PDO projects, including eligibility, WIL opportunities, courses, expectations, admissions requirements, and funding sources.
  • Evaluate and assess students, including interview and identification of special characteristics, during the intake process to determine eligibility and appropriateness of student suitability to the project offering.
  • Determine client needs and makes appropriate referrals to internal and external services and resources.
  • Maintain referrals and recommendations for client matching of WIL opportunities.
  • Assist with developing, compiling and maintaining resource and related program and/or career guidance information needed for client advisement.
  • Maintain confidential client databases and files. Prepare reports/records as required.
