The Project Coordinator, Paid Family/Community Caregiver is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and ensuring the successful implementation of the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), Paid Family/Community Caregiver Pilot Project within the selected pilot communities in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

Under the strategic guidance of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Service Authority (NTHSSA), the incumbent will provide leadership to direct the execution of the implementation phase, facilitate stakeholder engagement, guide change management, facilitate education and training strategies, and support data collection, monitoring, and reporting.


Located in Yellowknife, the Project Coordinator is responsible for the effective implementation of the pilot project and will play a critical liaison role between partners and various stakeholders.

The incumbent must strive to deliver the program in a manner that best meets the needs of the residents of the NWT who will be directly impacted by the pilot.

The successful incumbent must possession the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the NWT health and social services delivery system.
  • Knowledge of the administrative and clinical policies, procedures, and practices of the NTHSSA.
  • Skills relevant to providing health care services in a home care setting.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills to research, assess, and advise on any corrective actions and challenges encountered during the project
  • Ability to collaborate with and develop position working relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise sensitivity to the cultural, social, and political conditions of the regions and the health and social services environment in the NWT


Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by a Baccalaureate Degree in a Health and Social Services field (such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work or Public Health) plus three (3) years of clinical experience in home and community care settings, and two (2) years in progressive project coordination, or an equivalent combination or education and experience.
