Outdoor Education Administrator to start in September 2023.


This is a key role in Mulgrave's dynamic Outdoor Education (OE) programs both at the West Vancouver campus and at the school's Outdoor education centre in Squamish (the SOLE Centre).

This will include helping coordinate the school's extensive Pre-K to grade 12 program, in close collaboration with other members of the Outdoor Education team and faculty and staff from across the school.

The successful applicant will be an effective forward planner, systems organiser, problem solver and administrator as well as having an interest in seeing an outdoor education program succeed and grow.

They will also be hard-working and detail-oriented, flexible, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute the policies and procedures relevant to the scope of operations within the department
  • Book and communicate with external providers, contractors, and guides
  • Prepare, coordinate, and deliver documents to a variety of stakeholders
  • Communicate and follow up with parents and other stakeholders regarding programs and documents
  • Attend meetings and keep detailed notes
  • Outdoor Education gear inventorying and allocation
  • Prepare and administer contracts with external rentals
  • Oversee the transportation needs of the department
  • Manage the calendars of the SOLE Centre, the team members, and the school's climbing centre
  • Coordination of bookings and related needs, including transportation and rentals
  • Correspond with internal/external renters of the SOLE Centre and support the administration of external/internal bookings
  • Possibly occasional bus driving for OE groups
  • Establish strong, positive relationships with students, teachers, parents, and community members and foster a healthy environment for outdoor education in accordance with the mission and values of the school
  • A wide range of other administrative tasks associated with the outdoor education program, including the preparation of documents (presentation slides, spreadsheets, and letters) that support the execution of our OE programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a Canadian resident and/or legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Evidence of managing complex administrative requirements
  • Clear vision of the role that outdoor education plays in the personal development of young people
  • Commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct

Preferred Experience and Qualities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Google Apps for Education
  • Class 4 Driver's licence, or ability to obtain by January 2024
