Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise and guidance to the engineering team in the initial project stages to develop functional specifications and set design direction.
  • Assist the mechanical and electrical design teams in hardware selection, testing, and integration including robots, motion controllers, sensors, and vision systems.
  • Design and develop code for automation equipment aligning with functional requirements and internal programming standards.
  • Create software programs tailored to customer and project requirements following standard programming methods.
  • Debug and commission control systems during integration at company facilities and customer sites.
  • Ensure machine functionality through comprehensive testing to meet system compliance with customer specifications.
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites for installation, commissioning, and training.
  • Collaborate with different teams to enhance controls technology integration for safety, functionality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Adhere to labor and material budgets, and scheduled delivery dates.
  • Work closely with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to provide functional automation systems.
  • Prepare detailed project documentation including operator, maintenance, and training manuals.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers for problem-solving.

Note: The role may involve weekend work or non-standard business hours. Travel within North America is expected several times a year, up to 20% of work time, lasting typically 1-2 weeks.

Qualifications for this Opportunity

  • Willingness to troubleshoot equipment, experience with robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and vision systems.
  • Strong drive for learning and growth in industrial automation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for team collaboration and customer interaction.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within North America.
  • Experience with specific robots and controls systems preferred.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills, with an engineering background preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to think through project constraints.
  • Portfolio showcasing significant project contributions preferred.
  • Experience in robotic applications preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular duties include standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, talking, and hearing.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision with depth perception.
  • Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
