SUMMARY
Have overall responsibility for the Woodbridge Siding operation, with a staff of approximately 250 people. Lead the manufacturing team to meet or exceed the operational and financial goals set out for the operation. Establish clear goals for the team and help the management team members achieve those goals. Develop a culture of continuous improvement for safety, quality and production - the drive to continually get better. Act as a mentor to help team member reach the next level of responsibility. Able and willing to learn, promote, and deploy all safety, HR, quality, financial, and operational policies and procedures. Must be able to hire, develop, train, maintain, and promote our best people. Maintain our production and building assets to ensure long term sustainability. Manage both internal and external customer chain. Keen observer of all government's compliance, recording, reporting, and audits. Assure profitability for both short and long term.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May include, but are not limited to, the following:_
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees and ensure that employees follow established safety rules to ensure the goal of zero injuries
  • Conducts staff meetings to learn and solve problems, to listen to suggestions for improvement and to establish goals
  • Provide leadership, planning, and assist in directing manufacturing activities, personnel, and projects at the Woodbridge Siding manufacturing facility
  • Responsible for planning and directing the layout of equipment, workflow, processing methods, and work force utilization
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies to meet departmental and company goals within agreed upon budgets and timeframes
  • Develop programs and strategies to optimize operations and increase production
  • Lead and build a team of diverse skilled employees to continuously achieve optimal performance and energize the workforce
  • Develop a data driven culture to make logical and timely decisions
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement initiatives using modern techniques such as TPS, Lean and Six Sigma Serve as liaison between manufacturing and other departments so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development work with sales to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Visit/call suppliers and vendors to obtain information regarding manufacturing activities and projects
  • Manage a plant profit and loss statement as well manage capital budget in excess of $307M (CAD)
  • Administer company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with employees and supervisors/managers
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Must have had 10 years' experience running/responsible for at least a $200M (CAD) manufacturing facility
  • Understanding of financials and ability to manage budgets
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Highly Motivated and results oriented
  • Ability to lead a large team of diverse abilities
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks
  • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Additionally, this position must make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.

May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
