Looking for an experienced (minimum 1 year) part-time residential garage door technician, who will transition to fulltime eventually.

Must be is capable of installing garage doors and openers, and performing service calls from start to finish with no supervision or initial training.

Experience is an asset, but willing to consider someone with no experience who is a fast learner, physically capable, very handy, good with carpentry tools, and able to work under pressure.

Must work well with others.

WITHOUT EXPERIENCE:
First 8 months - $20/hr for training, then $22.5/hr for the next 3 months, then $25+/hr after that.

WITH 1+ YR EXPERIENCE:
First 3 months will be probation period at $22.5/hr, then $25/hr after that + bonuses.

WITH 5+ YR EXPERIENCE:
$27.50/hr to start.

WITH 10+ YR EXPERIENCE:
$30/hr to start.

10-25 hours/week depending on workload. Must be a mature adult looking for a career change within a growing company. This is NOT a temporary position. The chance to become lead tech within a short period of time is very high at the moment.

TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Taking down existing garage door.
  • Installing complete garage doors start to finish.
  • Installing automatic openers.
  • Garage door repairs and site inspections.
  • Bonus points for experience with aluminum flashing/capping.
  • 90% of the work is local (London, On), but some installs/service will be out of town (within 1 hour radius). Vehicle and tools will be provided.
  • Picking up doors/openers and parts from various locations (sometimes out of town as far as Mississauga, but rare).
  • Loading and unloading utility truck with garage doors. Must ensure truck is constantly stocked and organized.
  • Disposal of old nonmetal garage doors and garbage at specified locations 23 times a week.
  • Heavy lifting is required (up to ~50 pounds).
  • This position requires a lot of stamina, and occasionally the ability to work under pressure.
  • In addition: Must be comfortable using all sorts of power tools including (but not limited to) circular/reciprocating saws, impact, hammer drill, grinder, plus all hand tools.
  • Must have a strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Must know how to engage in positive interactions with customers and have good customer service skills, must be pleasant and professional at all times.
  • You will be using your own cellphone regularly to correspond with your superior, generate quotes, invoices and receipts, and to occasionally call customers to confirm appointments. This is already factored into the hourly wage.
  • Knowing how to drive a trailer would be an asset but not required.
  • Must have G license with good driving abstract.
  • Must reside in London.
You will be provided with a company truck that will be used for work purposes only.

You will also be required to perform routine maintenance on the truck, such as oil changes, tire changes, repairs, etc.

(all considered paid work).

Our regular operating hours are 7 days a week, 8am-7pm. Most work will be between the hours of 8-5, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends. There is a lot of schedule flexibility.
