About the Job:


Working for the Plant Manager and Maintenance Lead, the Maintenance Technician maintains production quality and effectiveness by ensuring all machinery and technical equipment is in good operating order and can perform at its best.

Following and implementation of a preventative maintenance program, working with suppliers and outside contractors to ensure proper equipment and critical spares are on hand and readily available.

This position is also responsible for facility repairs and related maintenance e.g., plumbing, electrical, lighting, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensure all preuse inspections are read and all findings are fixed before machine is started
  • Working with the Shift Lead follow the preventive maintenance schedule for all machines and technical equipment such as: production equipment, forklifts, pumptrucks, shipping doors & dock plates and carry out maintenance as per the schedule.
  • Ensure all machines and technical equipment are operating at peak performance. Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells or atypical energy usage. Perform emergency repairs as needed and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
  • Recommend, install, assemble and test new machines and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations and ensure all machines and technical equipment meets safety and other required standards.
  • Be proficient in the use of a variety of power and hand tools needed to perform the job functions. Responsible for maintaining an inventory of needed tools and equipment to maintain and repair machines and technical equipment and the organization and upkeep of the toolroom.
  • Maintain a stock of parts for the repair and maintenance of all machines and technical equipment e.g. belts, gear boxes, bearings, pinch rollers, sensors, etc.
  • Be responsible for all onsite (inside and out) building and office repairs & maintenance, including but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, lighting, and the building exterior not covered by the landlords' lease agreement.
  • Responsible for equipment changeovers in an effective and efficient manner.

Minimum Requirements

  • Postsecondary education, or an equivalent number of years of education and Maintenance Coordination experience.
  • Experience with motor repairs, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics and welding
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation.
  • Strong communication and problemsolving skills.
