Reporting to Executive Manager Human Resource Services, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management, administration and compliance with the Board's job evaluation and pay equity requirements.


The successful applicant for this Mid-management Level 4 position ($85,836 to $99,91- under review), will be working 40 hours per week, 12 months per year, effective as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:_

  • Coordinate the administration of all Job Evaluation plans and ensure compliance with pay equity guidelines and all applicable legislation
  • Run statistical pay equity analyses to ensure compliance with pay equity requirements (as required).
  • Lead and coordinate the Job Evaluation Committee group(s) and manage the process of new job classifications, reevaluations and appeals
  • Create and maintain training materials, Standard Operating Procedures, user manuals, and other documentation relating to job evaluation and compensation processes and procedures; maintain all supporting documentation related to compensation and job evaluation for retrieval and audit purposes.
  • Deliver training programs for union and nonunion job evaluation committees on their responsibilities, evaluation tools, and processes; and, train staff and management on the job evaluation process.
  • Develop and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, documentation, forms, and tools for managers and employees as they relate to the Job Evaluation System.
  • Develop and maintain job description records. Provide guidance and recommendations with respect to development and updating of job descriptions. Ensure that records are up to date and in compliance with collective agreements/policies and procedures (as appropriate).
  • Supports and coordinates external market valuation and searches to support labour market competitiveness.
  • Manages the completion and submission of compensation surveys, salary planning surveys and benchmarking data
  • Provide assistance to support labour relations functions, including grievances, arbitrations and negotiations related to job evaluation.
  • Provide expertise in the evaluation and wage determination of temporary assignments.

Qualifications:_

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma/certificate in Human Resources Management, Business, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, or a complimentary discipline as solely determined by the Board
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Experience and exposure with both the compliance/implementation of pay equity legislative requirements as well as the ongoing maintenance of pay equity requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant Ontario pay equity legislation
  • Demonstrated experience in Compensation and Job Evaluation plans in a complex public sector environment
  • Demonstrated numerical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong computer literacy including data analytics proficiency
  • Excellent planning and organization skills, able to effectively manage multiple and diverse priorities
  • Able to understand business needs and work collaboratively with leadership and HR colleagues to provide sound advice and counsel and to develop solutions
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and work effectively at all levels in the organization including interacting with Union Officials
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written); ability to communicate complex information clearly and at a level appropriate for the audience
  • Demonstrated discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment
  • Exceptional administrative and organizational skills working with a high level of efficiency

  • Broader public sector experience
  • Prior experience working constructively in a complex multiunion environment
  • CHRP/CHRL
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or equivalent
