The Community Initiatives Support (CIS) Unit provides leadership and oversight of the provincial response for community safety and well-being across the criminal justice system, including the administration of approximately $40 million in grant funding.

The Alberta Security Infrastructure Program (ASIP) grant funds security assessments, related training, equipment, immediate response and security infrastructure improvements to facilities serving communities or identifiable groups at risk of hate or bias-motivated crimes or incidents.


Role:

The Coordinator works independently with a high level of autonomy and requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This role requires the development and maintenance of a strong network of collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to inform program policy and design, including with representatives from the department and cross-ministry partners, the Intelligence Bureau of the Provincial Security & Intelligence Office (PSIO), the Provincial Hate Crimes Coordination Unit (HCCU), Rural and Crime Prevention Associations and security service providers.

The position may require travel to engage with stakeholders, prospective grant recipients and other partners.

Qualifications:

University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience

Equivalencies considered:


Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Required

  • Experience in grant or contract management.
  • Experience public speaking and delivering information in a public setting.

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License

Assets

  • Experience developing grant and program policy and guidelines.
  • Experience budgeting, financial tracking and reporting.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of government contract and grant management best practices, including the Ministerial Grants Regulation within the Government Organization Act.
  • Knowledge or experience in negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge or experience in crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED), and/or security infrastructure, including security assessments, training and equipment.

$2, $3,550.90 bi-weekly
