JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Office. Primary duties include financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, as well as working capital and cash control.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience


- 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major; no prior work experience necessary.

Assisting in Management of Accounting Team

Managing Projects and Policies


- Produces accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.


- Analyzes information and evaluates results to determine the best solutions and solve problems.


- Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates, audits, or verifies information and data.


- Ensures the accuracy of the P&L statement, with costs correctly matched to revenue and recorded in the appropriate accounts, and that statements are delivered promptly to the relevant individuals.


- Reconciles the balance sheet.


- Ensures current tax rates are used for sales/use tax and the correct amounts are collected and/or accrued.


- Ensures compliance with SOPs and LSOPs.


- Ensures that account balances are supported by appropriate documentation as per SOPs.


- Reviews audit issues and corrects them where necessary.


- Ensures property permits, licenses, and vendor contracts are up to date.


- Utilizes centralized accounting processes and shared services.

Demonstrating and Applying Accounting Knowledge


- Demonstrates understanding of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes.


- Keeps up-to-date with technical developments and applies new knowledge to the role.


- Utilizes computers and computer systems for programming, software development, data entry, and information processing.


- Uses relevant information and individual judgment to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.


- Leverages technology to generate financial reports and provide analytical support to managers for decision-making.

Providing Financial Information and Guidance to Others


- Communicates relevant financial information to executives, peers, and subordinates in a timely manner.


- Participates in review meetings with the management team.


- Advises the Director of Finance on current and emerging operating/financial issues.


- Communicates financial concepts clearly and persuasively, facilitating understanding and driving desired behaviors.


- Offers guidance to other departments on accounting and budgeting policies, efficient control, and utilization of financial resources.


- Provides information to supervisors, colleagues, and subordinates via telephone, written communication, email, or in person.

Maintaining Finance and Accounting Goals


- Submits reports promptly, meeting delivery deadlines.


- Ensures accurate documentation of profits and losses.


- Surpasses goals, including performance, budget, and team objectives.


- Develops specific goals and plans to organize and complete tasks efficiently.


- Monitors all applicable taxes to ensure they are up to date, collected, and/or accrued.


- Supports a robust accounting and operational control environment to protect assets, enhance operations and profitability, and manage business risks.
