Accounting Clerk & Fundraising Assistant

FDA is a provincial registered, non-profit charitable organization, that serves food banks, community kitchens, school food programs and other supportive agencies across New Brunswick.

We are accountable for food collection, storage and distribution, fundraising, and advocacy for the people we serve and the agencies we support.


THE OPPORTUNITY

WHAT YOU WILL DO?
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration, the Accounting Clerk & Fundraising Assistant will be accountable for:

Accounting:

  • Utilizing Sage 50 accounting software to maintain and update accounting records, including transaction coding and journal entries.
  • Handling accounts payable functions, such as posting payables, facilitating payments.
  • Managing accounts receivable tasks, including posting customer payments, issuing invoices, and running reports.
  • Preparing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with the administration department to resolve billing issues and ensure timely collections.
  • Assisting in payroll processing and managing employee expense reports.
  • Providing reporting to management on accounts payable, receivables, and financial records.
  • Filing monthly, quarterly, and annual HST remittances.

Fundraising support:

  • Assist the Fundraising Manager with customer support on 50/50 draw days.
  • Assist the Fundraising Manager with retail vendor invoicing, collections, bank deposits, and reconciliations.
  • Generate reports for various purposes including billing, planning, and reporting for the 50/50 draw.
  • Manage the 50/50 draw customer support helpline during evenings and weekends, at least one week a month, as part of an oncall rotation

WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES?

  • A college diploma in finance, bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software and understanding of accounting procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, specifically Excel.
  • Spoken and written proficiency in English and French.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Effective communicator inperson and by phone.
  • Proven attention to detail and personal organization.
  • Recognized for integrity and professionalism.
  • Reputation for being courteous, respectful, and patient.
  • Values teamwork and proven ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Nonprofit experience considered and asset.

THE DETAILS

Working Hours:

  • Salary based on a 40hour work week with flexibility in scheduling, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires availability outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as part of an oncall rotation.

Location:

  • This role is based in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Compensation:
