Reporting to the Director of Equity, the Accessibility Consultant is supported by the Manager, Accessibility Services and the Office of Equity and leads a college-wide accessibility audit of digital resources using the Web Content Accessibility Guide (WCAG) standards to identify systemic accessibility gaps on our digital content and platforms.

The Accessibility Consultant will play a significant role in continuing to advance NorQuest College's commitment to advancing accessibility and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion through connecting with external/internal stakeholders, identifying institutional gaps, and developing a report of recommendations and next steps for NorQuest Executive Leadership regarding the findings of the accessibility audit.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Develop and implement organizationwide consultation and stakeholder plans to identify accessibility gaps using the WCAG standards.
  • Connect, collaborate, and lead partnership with an external WCAG audit firm.
  • Develop project plan, outcomes, and expected timelines in collaboration with the Director of Equity and Manager, Accessibility Services.
  • Collaborate with project steering committee to develop a work plan to implement external audit findings.
  • Coordinate and chair meetings for project steering committee and followup with action items identified.
  • Develop action plans and recommendations that are tailored to the unique needs of the NorQuest Community.
  • Consult and troubleshoot operational issues with project steering committee.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, Masters is an asset.
  • Web Content Accessibility (WCAG), International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), and/or Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) accreditations are preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience working in digital learning and disability spaces with an advanced understanding of accessibility and accommodations.

  • Experience working in a large postsecondary or public institution.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, People Soft, Learning Management Systems (ex: Moodle).
  • Experience in writing reports and creating implementation plan in line with existing Collegewide strategic plans.

SALARY:
$38.50 to $49.99/hour reflective of what you bring, AKA your education and experience, plus 11.2% in lieu of vacation. This is a casual position to June 30, 2023.
