Job Summary:


The general function of this position is to proactively grow the aftermarket business by expanding our spare parts and service activities to customers with the existing installed base of Hayward Gordon products and finding potential new customers.

The position requires regular contact with external customers. It also requires regular contact with all functional areas within the Hayward Gordon Group. The person who holds this role is primarily an individual contributor who can work with a team.

This position requires the ability to elicit contribution and cooperation from persons who are not direct reports, but who are critical to the completion of a task or project.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To respond to, target & qualify prospects to generate sales.
  • To cultivate the customer relationship via followup calls, marketing material those leads that are qualified but do not have an immediate/actionable interest or need at this time.
  • Interpreting technical and commercial requirements
  • Preparing and releasing quotations
  • Ensuring Hayward Gordon credit control guidelines are followed.
  • Maintaining current order data in computer files
  • Reviewing customer orders against quotations
  • Resolving conflicts with clients and other departments
  • Maintaining pricing and credit guidelines
  • Reporting to management on quotation and order activity
  • Performing other duties as directed.

Requirements:

  • Physical:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs at times.
  • Mental
  • Language: The use of the English language, both Oral and Written.
  • Requires daily communication with multiple departments to insure maximum efficiency.

Education & Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Education or equivalent experience in a technical sales environment
  • Proficient with a Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong English communication skills both oral (via phone) and written.
  • Ability to build rapport & relationships with prospects via remote processes & tools.
  • Balance of questioning (probing) & listening skills. The ability to ask the "tough" questions about needs, decision making, timing & budget.
  • Background in direct customer service
  • Team oriented and positive attitude.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' sales experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with an MRP / ERP system in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the industry (an asset).

Working Conditions:

  • Hours of operation: 8:30 to 4:30pm
