BreakThrough in hockey innovation as our Product Development Test Engineer Join the frontline of innovation with Warrior Sports as a vital member of our Hockey Skate R&D team. Positioned at the cutting edge, you will collaborate intensively with product designers and developers in Montreal and Asia to launch Warrior's inaugural hockey skate. Embodying the spirit of breakthrough, you will spearhead rigorous testing procedures to not only meet but exceed market standards, ensuring top-tier quality through precision and meticulous attention to detail.

In this role, your determination will drive the development and testing of pioneering innovations and product enhancements, continuously setting new benchmarks and distinguishing Warrior in the market. With a growth mindset, you will delve into the vast potential and tackle the overarching challenges within the skate category, enhancing our competitive edge.

While your primary focus will be revolutionizing the skate category, this position also offers the opportunity to impact various other product lines, including Player/Goalie Protective gear, Helmets, and Sticks, fostering a culture of valor and camaraderie across all dimensions of product development at Warrior Sports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in collaboration with product designers/developers to deliver Warrior's first hockey skate to the market
  • Develop test methods to quantify strength, durability, and performance of skates, skate components, and materials
  • Design test fixtures for use with existing lab equipment to achieve specific testing objectives
  • Carry out mechanical and biomechanical testing ensuring accurate and repeatable results
  • Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate lab equipment and instrumentation
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data in the context of product design
  • Maintain detailed records of test methods, observations, and results
  • Generate reports and presentations to communicate experimental findings to the product development team
  • Develop quality control protocols; work with suppliers to evaluate products and components in mass production
  • Collaborate with academic partners to carry out research projects supporting product innovation

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in mechanical or materials engineering
  • Graduate degree in mechanical, materials, or biomechanical engineering is a plus
  • Experience with mechanical and materials lab testing and equipment such as materials testing machine, drop tower, linear impactor, etc.
  • Experience in product development is a plus
  • Ability to define test objectives, develop test plans, and interpret test results in alignment with product development goals
  • Familiar with sporting equipment test procedures (ex: footwear, cut & sew, or hard goods) is a plus
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for analyzing and presenting data/test results
  • Experience in CAD software for designing test fixtures
  • Ability to identify issues with test equipment, and troubleshoot problems effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Capable of working autonomously within defined parameters
  • Highly motivated to solve problems; detail-oriented
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication
  • Passionate about skating or playing hockey is a plus

INGÉNIEUR D'ESSAIS EN DÉVELOPPEMENT DE PRODUITS

L'Ingénieur d'essais en développement de produits sera un élément clé de l'équipe R&D de la catégorie patins. Il travaillera en collaboration avec les concepteurs et les développeurs de produits à Montréal et en Asie pour lancer le premier patin de hockey de Warrior sur le marché. Il développera et mettra en œuvre des procédures de test rigoureuses pour garantir que le produit surpasse les normes du marché et soit de la plus haute qualité. Il travaillera avec l'équipe de R&D pour développer et tester des innovations et des améliorations de produits afin de favoriser l'amélioration continue et la différenciation sur le marché. Il adoptera une mentalité de croissance et cherchera à comprendre les opportunités et les défis plus larges présentés à travers toute la catégorie des patins. Bien que ce poste se concentre sur la catégorie des patins, le candidat aura l'opportunité de collaborer sur des projets dans d'autres catégories (protection pour joueurs/gardiens, casques, bâtons, etc.).

TÂCHES ET RESPONSABILITÉS ESSENTIELLES SPÉCIFIQUES

  • Travailler en collaboration avec les concepteurs/développeurs de produits pour lancer le premier patin de hockey de Warrior sur le marché.
  • Développer des méthodes de test pour quantifier la résistance, la durabilité et les performances des patins, des composants de patins et des matériaux.
  • Concevoir des dispositifs de test pour utilisation avec l'équipement de laboratoire existant afin d'atteindre des objectifs de test spécifiques.
  • Réaliser des tests mécaniques et biomécaniques en garantissant des résultats précis et reproductibles.
  • Installer, entretenir, dépanner et faire fonctionner l'équipement de laboratoire et les instruments.
  • Collecter, analyser et interpréter les données dans le contexte de la conception du produit.
  • Maintenir des dossiers détaillés des méthodes de test, des observations et des résultats.
  • Générer des rapports et des présentations pour communiquer les résultats expérimentaux à l'équipe de développement de produits.
  • Développer des protocoles de contrôle de qualité ; travailler avec les fournisseurs pour évaluer les produits et les composants en production de masse.
  • Collaborer avec des partenaires académiques pour mener des projets de recherche soutenant l'innovation produit.

CONNAISSANCES, COMPÉTENCES ET EXPÉRIENCES

  • Diplôme de premier cycle en génie mécanique ou en génie des matériaux.
  • Un diplôme de troisième cycle en génie mécanique, matériaux ou biomécanique est un plus.
  • Expérience avec les tests de laboratoire mécaniques et des matériaux et équipements tels que la machine d'essai de matériaux, la tour de chute, l'impacteur linéaire, etc.
  • Expérience en développement de produit est un plus.
  • Aptitude à définir les objectifs de test, développer des plans de test et interpréter les résultats des tests en alignement avec les objectifs de développement de produit.
  • Familiarité avec les procédures de test d'équipement sportif (ex : chaussures, découpe et couture ou produits rigides) est un plus.
  • Maîtrise de la suite Microsoft Office (c.-à-d., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) pour analyser et présenter les données/résultats des tests.
  • Expérience dans le logiciel CAO pour la conception de dispositifs de test.
  • Aptitude à identifier les problèmes avec l'équipement de test et à dépanner efficacement.
  • Solides compétences interpersonnelles et capacité à collaborer efficacement au sein d'une équipe.
  • Capable de travailler de manière autonome dans des paramètres définis.
  • Très motivé pour résoudre des problèmes ; souci du détail.
  • Maîtrise de la communication en anglais, à l'oral comme à l'écrit.
  • Passion pour le patinage ou le hockey est un plus.
