Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Calgary office is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join the team.

This position reports to the Manager, Crude & Power Accounting in the Marketing Business Unit (MBU), part of Pembina's Marketing & Strategy Division.

Pembina's Marketing Business Unit undertakes value-added commodity marketing activities including buying and selling products (natural gas, ethane, propane, butane, condensate and crude oil) and capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities.

By contracting capacity on Pembina's and various third-party pipelines and utilizing the Company's rail fleet and rail logistics capabilities, the Marketing business is able to add incremental value to commodities for Pembina and the WCSB.

Marketing activities also include identifying commercial opportunities to further develop other Pembina assets.


This role contributes to the strategy of growth for MBU to support technical accounting action required of issues that may arise from the implementation of new contracts, areas of business and systems implementation.


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Complete contract interpretation in accordance with IFRS for all areas of the MBU business;
  • Assist with the development of internal documentation for all significant accounting processes to ensure the adherence to Pembina's Accounting Policy;
  • Liaise with various Pembina stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of Marketing disclosures;
  • Liaise with Internal and External Audit to support MBU's Internal Controls program;
  • Engage with various Pembina groups to increase reporting automation and efficiencies;
  • Build strong relationships with Front and Mid-Office;
  • Conduct training as required for the wider MBU team;
  • Develop strong working relationships and maintain open communication across Pembina's business and service units; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • CPA with external audit experience with a public accounting firm preferred;
  • Recent experience in marketing accounting or financial reporting at a midstream organization;
  • Experience with revenue contract interpretation;
  • Experience with Financial Instruments is a significant asset;
  • Experience in RightAngle is a significant asset;
  • Committed to learning and understanding accounting and commercial systems; SAP and BPC experience is considered an asset;
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting requirements to a wide audience;
  • Detailoriented with strong analytical skills;
  • Willingness to be curious and tenacious;
  • Selfmotivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a fastpaced environment;
  • Effective communication, organization, and teambuilding skills complemented by a strong work ethic; and
  • Commitment to being dynamic and helping our team strategically solve challenges.
