JOB PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Data Systems Administrator will serve as a key contributor to the Learning, Innovation and Technology (LIT) department with responsibilities for the administration, implementation and support of database records and procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of information for all users across the School.

In addition, will play a key role in supporting special projects across various data systems to enhance both internal and external user experiences and efficiencies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and support the York school Blackbaud Student Information systems and other data systems
  • Coordinate with the division Principals and the core academic team to create and maintain student, staff and room timetables
  • Collaborating with the Director of Information Technology and Associate Head, Academic Innovation, provide support for special projects involving the planning, execution, and facilitation of data system migration, updates, and enhancements across multiple school departments
  • Support the delivery of ministry reports, including ONSIS, OUAC and OSSLT
  • Maintain the school's attendance workflow, coverage system and all University counselling systems
  • Working closely with outside vendors to enhance the school data experience
  • Plan for appropriate integration and synchronisation of relevant Learning Management tools as aligned with the school's strategic plan and academic toolkit
  • Train, coordinate and support data owners and departmental database users to ensure accuracy, validity, and security of data entering and leaving data systems
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training across school departments and divisions
  • Responds to Help Desk data systemrelated queries and coordinate with the LIT team to resolve assigned tickets

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Post secondary education in a related field with a minimum of 35 years of work experience in database administration as a Data Systems Analyst/Administrator or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of the principles, methodology and techniques for information security, including data security, access control, and related legislation
  • Demonstrates strong troubleshooting techniques and problemsolving skills with a focus on creative resolution and continuous improvement
  • Experience working with data visualization, Google big query, and Google Looker Studio considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Has good communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Has the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and adjust priorities accordingly
  • Displays a high degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
