About Our Opportunity

The Business Development Officer plays a vital role in enhancing business opportunities and industry development in Nova Scotia. This involves engaging in industry projects, collaborating with agriculture and agri-food clients, and building a network of key industry stakeholders while sharing valuable industry insights.

Primary Accountabilities

The Business Development Officer focuses on client-oriented service delivery by understanding client needs and delivering maximum value. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining knowledge of agricultural landscape, technological developments, and market trends
  • Planning and executing business development initiatives to enhance industry capacities
  • Advising clients and stakeholders on sector development options
  • Engaging with a diverse client portfolio pursuing innovation and growth activities
  • Handling confidential business information and staying updated on available resources for clients
  • Utilizing industry experience and networks to develop proactive strategies
  • Exploring business and sector development opportunities and fostering industry participation
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to identify market intelligence
  • Preparing communications and briefing materials

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 1 year of related experience. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in handling sensitive business information are essential. Additional assets include project management experience, knowledge of Nova Scotia's agricultural landscape, and experience in client service and strategic development initiatives.

Working Conditions

This is a Term position expected to end on May 2, 2025, located in the western region. The exact work location will be determined post hiring.
