Why is this role important?

  • The Program Consultant develops Case Mix products using the Python language, based on a comprehensive set of specifications and user requirements. Provides technical support to analysts within the Case Mix department who also develops Case Mix products using Python, with an emphasis on fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Provides advice and expertise on the technical and methodological direction of products and services to support Case Mix's overall business strategy.
  • 2. Identifies future enhancements to case mix methodologies and collaborates with colleagues on R&D work into the feasibility of these enhancements.
  • 3. Develops Case Mix grouping methodology products that are used to synthesize large datasets and create indicators, using the Python programming language. 5. Coaches staff and provides guidance on creating topquality clean code and participates in peertopeer code reviews.
  • 6. Prepares documentation, reports, and presentations related to projects and activities.
  • 7. Meets timelines and milestones by monitoring deliverables. Accurately identifies resource requirements and potential risks. 9. Evaluates all products and services to ensure that they are completed in compliance with CIHI Privacy and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures, including the ethical use of data.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, Computing Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Advanced experience using Python to manipulate large data for gaining insights and delivering products/services (e.g., PySpark, APIs for relational databases, etc.). Working experience with SAS is an asset.
  • Five years of experience leading analytical activities including data visualization, statistical analysis and machine learning, including good software engineering practices (e.g., code optimization, version control).
  • Experience with designing and developing web forms is desirable (e.g., in Flask).
  • Experience designing and building analytical solutions to solve realworld problems, with effective selfdirection.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach staff and work as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with high performance computing is an asset.
  • Strong problemsolving skills, with an emphasis on product and service development for business decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to document findings and communicate complex ideas in simple terminology (both orally and in writing).
  • Understanding of Canada's healthcare system is an asset.
  • Ability to fulfill occasional travel.
  • Written and oral fluency in English is required.
