MOTTIV is hiring a Vice-President of Engineering who wants to take on a senior leadership position at a fast growing company.

We're looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer who has leadership experience managing engineering processes and teams, or someone who is ready to take the next step in their career.

This role is critical to support our growth by building a scalable development process that allows us to grow efficiently.

is an endurance race training app (iOS and Android) that provides everyday people with triathlon, running race, cycling event, duathlon, and swimrun training plans.

We provide our athletes with the endurance training, strength and yoga workouts, nutritional recommendations, and motivation to complete races they never thought possible.

MOTTIV is using AI, gamification, social media, and world-class rules based algorithms to create something entirely new in the endurance sports world.

Created social media profiles populated by personal athlete stats
Created a social media experience that allows people to bring their virtual training experience into the real world
Developing a proactive AI coach to guide athletes through their training plan journey
Lead a development team of roughly six people, including Software and QA Engineers to ensure the dev process runs smoothly
Oversee all stages of software development projects from conception to deployment
Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices
Ensure the technical feasibility of projects, and provide technical guidance and problem-solving support, keeping an eye on future roadblocks and creating strategies to mitigate failure points
Ensure that software solutions are reliable, scalable, and meet high standards of quality and performance
Create and manage CI/CD tools integration/operations, and full automation of CI/testing
Develop, scale, and control strategies, standards, guidelines, governance of Continuous Integration systems
Develop, manage, monitor, and improve automated testing processes, working with QA Engineer and Software Developers to find solutions
Lead and contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to improve team productivity

You are expected to create the dev team and processes you need for success, so if you function best with existing structure, predefined work tasks, need things assigned to you, and want to be closely managed, this probably isn't the right role for you.

3+ years of experience managing a team, ideally in a hybrid and remote environment, including providing ongoing feedback, supporting career development, and managing performance of team members
~ Ability to build and manage a development process that takes finished designs all the way through to production release in a smooth and efficient manner
~ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to support data-driven decision making (e.g. with Mixpanel) and to evaluate requirements for the core user experience
~ Experience recruiting, selecting, and training team members
~ On the technical side of things, we're looking for someone who has:
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer (nice to have: 3+ years of experience as a Director or Manager of Software Engineering)
over-engineering the solution

Deep expertise in:
AWS, React Native, as well as Swift and/or Kotlin
Experience with leading and developing a CI/CD pipeline

Understanding and knowledge of:
PHP development with Laravel, AI
Understanding of how to write automated tests
Experience managing projects using a scalable project management software
MySQL and database design, developing RESTful APIs, Git and code reviews, Unit testing and Test Driven Development
Fridays off in the summer
~ Flexible working hours
~ Over the summer we will be opening an office in Calgary. We expect all senior leaders to relocate to Calgary within a reasonable period of time after starting with MOTTIV. Leaders will be expected to spend more than half their time in the office on a weekly basis, however we are flexible and we'll collaborate to find the best way for our team to work, grow, and learn together.
