Clinical Leader Manager Ambulatory Mental Health (Job ID: 4912)

The Mental Health and Addictions Service is recruiting a Clinical Leader/Manager (CL/M) for Outpatient and Community Mental Health Services. The CLM Outpatient and Community Mental Health Services provides clinical and operational support for outpatient mental health programs (urgent care clinic, group psychotherapy program, assessment clinic) and community mental health programs (FOCUS, Community Connections, STEPS For Youth, Mobile Crisis Intervention Team and Project Dignify) offered through Unity Health Toronto's St. Michael's Site. This opportunity will be of interest to leaders who value and foster a recovery approach to care. Additionally, being results orientated and comfortable working in a fast paced mental health setting is required.

In the role of Clinical Leader/Manager, you will provide exemplary clinical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, for the day to day clinical, financial and human resources of the community mental health programs and continuously ensure that the focus of our services achieves excellence in all aspects of our service delivery on both a strategic and operational level. You must be able to work in a collaborative, open and client-centered approach with patients, families, community stakeholders and inter-professional staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical service delivery/program planning and evaluation, quality and human resource management.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for maintaining efficient, effective operations within a defined fiscal envelope and day to day management while ensuring professional practice and staff development are in keeping with changing needs
  • Promotes best practices and evidence based care through the implementation of initiatives that are aligned with strategic directions of the organization
  • Responsible for ensuring that roles, responsibilities, functions and care delivery models continue to evolve to meet changing patient/family, departmental and corporate needs
  • Develops and evaluates quality improvement initiatives in focus areas
  • Seeks, communicates and implements mental health best practice knowledge about methodological approaches to achieving improvements in patient access and flow
  • Participates actively in Program specific and Hospital-wide initiatives through Committee and Task Force membership, Hospital planning and management forums

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration with a Regulated Health Professional College (Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy)
  • Master's Degree in a Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy required
  • Three to five years strong clinical and/or leadership experience in Community and Ambulatory Mental Health services preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills including demonstrated effectiveness with designing, planning, managing and change management in community mental health
  • Proven success in the development and implementation of strategic objectives including quality indicators, volume targets, and utilization management
  • Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships to advance patient and family-centered care
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education required
  • Demonstrated evidence of innovative leadership and strong physician engagement skills, with proven ability to foster a collaborative team
  • Superior communication, conflict resolution and problem solving skills within a complex and dynamic resource environment
  • Demonstrated excellent budgeting and financial management skills
  • Experience in facilitating, collaborating and negotiating effective resolution of human resource issues
  • Demonstrated human resource management skills including recruitment and retention of staff
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to patient safety, best practice and innovation in patient care delivery
  • Must be able to multi-task, set priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Excellent record of attendance and punctuality
