The Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence (MHA CoE) has an exciting and unique opportunity to design and develop an improved system of care for mental health and addictions services in Ontario.

Created through legislation in 2020, the MHA CoE will establish a system of improvement and management based on the successes and learnings from other provincial programs like cancer, renal, cardiac, and stroke.

A key member of the team that leads the design and implementation of the inaugural system and clinical strategies, plans, and policies for the MHA CoE.

This Lead position contributes their growing subject matter knowledge, experience, and insight to improving the mental well-being of Ontarians through the conception, development and implementation of products and processes that primarily address MHA CoE'S key business support functions which enable and inform the strategic directions of the organization.


Here is what you will be doing:
Planning and leading projects related to mental health and addictions system planning, policies and performance.

This includes working closely with health system administrators, clinical experts, health service providers and internal partners across OH, collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health, performance management, developing implementation, change management and evaluation tools, managing project documentation, and contributing to presentations and publications relating to the projectsFacilitating all aspects of program management such as identifying and effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders, driving agendas, and providing input in a collaborative setting to develop and implement strategies to foster quality improvementSupports meetings including (but not limited to) conducting research for meetings, developing reports and presentations, coordinating logistics, corresponding with meeting participants, leading meetings and/or participating in meetings as recorder when requiredAct as a lead to develop subject matter expertise in clinical and/or health system areas of mental health and addictionsProviding expert strategic advice across multiple areas of business and developing comprehensive clinical and/or health system plans and policiesWorking with various stakeholders (e.g., subject matter experts, providers, people with lived/living experience, administrators, professional bodies, etc.) and working groups to achieve consensusMonitoring evidence and conducting jurisdictional scans to understand best practices.

Conduct systematic literature reviewsIdentifying, resolving, and escalating, as required, issues and risks in a timely mannerCommitment and willingness to be a team player, support colleagues, and ensure program goals are accomplishedCreating, building, and maintaining strong respectful relationships with stakeholders, staff, and senior leadershipDemonstrating and maintaining a positive and creative influence in keeping project momentum moving forwardFostering understanding and application of plans and policies across the mental health and addictions sectorLead the development, implementation, and optimization of internal business processesSupervise and mentor staff when required to do so, including but not limited to providing performance feedback and appropriately escalating issues to managementHere is what you will need to be successful:

Education and ExperienceMaster's degree preferred or Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline (clinical epidemiology, health services research, business/health administration, sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experienceFive to eight years of healthcare sector experience, including at least three leading key projects and initiatives, and/or health systems planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience leading/enabling small to medium-scale strategic projects preferably related to the mental health and addictions fieldDemonstrated successful project management and change management experienceExperience with qualitative and quantitative analysis including systematic literature reviewsExperience partnering with internal and external stakeholders to advance the quality agendasExperience organizing and coordinating small and large meetings for various stakeholdersExperience supervising and/or mentoring team members, including providing performance feedback, identifying performance issues, and appropriately escalating issues to managementKnowledge and SkillsKnowledge of Communities of Practice (clinical) concept, performance, evaluation, indicator development, and/or performance measurementKnowledge of the Ontario health and social services system, project management, best practices in quality improvement and performance management are preferredKnowledge of mental health and addictions navigation and/or centralized/coordinated access services/programs is considered an assetKnowledge of digital health initiatives is considered an assetDemonstrated ability to work, both as a member of a team and independently, using sound judgmentConsidered a trusted colleague and an essential resource in your key areas of accountability for internal team members, external stakeholders, and partnersHighly motivated, results-oriented, team playerExcellent interpersonal, decision-making and facilitation skillsEagerness to learn about and partner with all regions and departments within the organization to advance the project objectivesKnowledge of health system planning and quality indicator development and reportingIntermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (e.g.
